Which SAT Subject Tests to Take?

I'm a sophomore, and I've begun to think about which SAT subject tests to take. I'm planning on majoring in business.

Should I take one History/English test and one Math/Science test in order to keep the balance? Or does Math/Science not matter since I want to do business?

Also, are my AP classes slightly unbalanced? I took AP World this(sophomore) year. Junior year, I'm taking AP US, Govt, and Lang. Senior year, I'm taking AP Lit, Econ, BC Calc, and Bio.

That's 6 History/English, and 2 Math/Science. Or, again, does Math/Science not matter since I want to do business?

Thanks

Bump, looking for a word of advice, preferably from a Cornell student.

Not a Cornell student but you should take Math IIC and Biology/History/Literature.

I’m pretty sure you’ll find Math IIC and Biology pretty easy looking at your APs so I’d suggest you take the two.

I think whatever is fine, as long as they are 750+. Remember that AEM (business) is in CALS and that college has science requirements.

Thanks, both of you.

@focus: I don’t think I’ll be able to take the Bio SAT since I’m taking AP Bio Senior year and I think the SAT Bio test probably has AP Bio material on it.

So, I’ll probably take Math and some sort of History/Lit test.

GO on their website and it will tell you which ones are required. Good luck!

Hi, I’m a CALS student intending to double major in Comm and AEM.
I took bio my freshman year but I didn’t do too well. Then I took Math II and US History, and did a lot better. Usually they say take one Humanities and one Math/Science.
However, it is a holistic approach. If your course load is varied and you’re doing well in your classes, that is favorable. Also remember that testing isn’t everything.

Good luck!

Thanks, lichte94. I think I’ll take Math and some sort of Literature/History test.

I am a parent. You are only sophomore, so you could change your mind which school you want want to apply to come senior year. Take your subject test after completion of relevant courses. I would ask your teacher if the course your are taking geared for SAT II test. My kid’s honors biology didn’t cover all material for SAT II, but the chemistry course was. I would recommend Math 2, a science and a humanities (literature, foreign language, history).

You should decide if you want to take ACT or SAT I. Cornell doesn’t do score choice, but requires SAT IIs (ACT can’t replace SAT II tests). What that’ll means is if you were to take both ACT and SAT I and decide to submit ACT scores, your SAT I scores will also be submitted to Cornell when you send in your SAT II scores.
