I got accepted for transfer to SJSU in child and adolescent and development major and for SFSU I got in the psychology major. Which school is better and which major is better for after college, like job opportunities etc?
If you want to go into teaching, definitely go for the SJSU child & adolescent development major. I think going on to get a teaching credential is the most common path for students in that major. Or other careers working with young people - social work, etc. Is that what you want?
A psych degree is far more general. Becoming a clinical psychologist or a researcher in psychology typically requires a PhD (two different types of PhD programs, but either way it’s a lot of school.) A psych BA or BS checks the “college degree” box, when searching for a job, but doesn’t specifically qualify you for anything in particular. (Not throwing shade - I have one myself, lol.) But it’s a broader general education than child and adolescent development, if you are not looking for a career working with young people.
In more practical terms, do you have housing in one place or the other, already? Housing is expensive in either city, of course, but San Francisco is an extra-ridiculously crowded and expensive housing market.
Reputation-wise, SJSU is a little stronger than SFSU in most fields, but both are fine schools.
