OK so I know many of you have seen this post before and know a few of my personal preferences. But pretend you know nothing about me for a minute. Which school would be the better choice to study civil/environmental engineering?

Schools I Have Been Accepted To So Far:

-Clemson University
-Northeastern University
-Purdue University - West Lafayette
-University Of Massachusetts - Amherst
-University Of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh Campus

I’d choose a school in a large city. I did both my undergrad and grad studies in NYC and both schools took advantage of it. Some classes incorporated field trips that helped students understand the concepts better. Some had partnerships with companies which allowed us to take real projects into the classroom. ASCE also has some of their own events for students. And lastly, it’ll also give you the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year if you choose to do so.

So I’d look towards Northeastern and Pittsburgh, but I’m sure Purdue is a great school as well.

Rose-Hulman’s deadline has passed. I spent a lot of time thinking about whether I should apply but in the end the fact that I already have one school in Indiana and the fact that I would prefer a larger school with more opportunities in not only science/engineering persuaded me to stick with Purdue, not Rose-Hulman

I would pick Clemson, it has a very good civil engineering department and the feel of the school is great. I am going into civil engineering next year and that is one of my top two choices.
