Which school should i go to

I'm considering Culver, Choate,Fountain valley, and interlochen. I feel like all of them are good schools but i don't know which one i should really pursue. Can i get some advice on this?

i'm also considering taft

interlochen is very different than the other schools, with a solid focus on the arts and academics really taking a bit more of a back seat. for boys, Culver is also very different than the other schools with the military style leadership aspect.

Try to zero in on what you are looking for in a school -- what classes do you want to take (check out languages, advanced classes in areas you are interested in, etc)? Any sports? Are you into music, theater, dance, art, etc -- look to see what the schools offer in those areas and if they offer advanced options if you are particularly talented. What about dress codes? school clubs? location/weather?

If you need FA, I would advise finding 6-8 schools that offer good FA packages. If money is not a consideration, try to find at least 1-2 matches and then 1-2+ reaches. Schools with admissions less than 40% would be reaches unless your stats put you at the very top of the applicant pool and you don't need FA.

Based on your school list -- also take a look at Conserve, Putney, Northfield Mount Hermon, Asheville, Lawrenceville and Mercersburg.

My S just started Choate so feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. I've also sent you a PM.

i've participated in the summer program at interlochen, it was so awesome. all the kids are genial and nice, and the whole cabin thing is really tight, you bond so much. i've got to warn you though, the food really sucked ( i dont know about the boarding school food, but my lochaven (cafeteria name) was just blechh). the setting is nice, but it's the middle of nowhere really. the airport is really small- it asks for volunteers to help, and i had a friend who had to wait 4 hours to have the wind change its course. lol i also had to walk everywhere- the place is just huge. other than that, it has a nice scenery with beautiful green fields everywhere... ultimate frisbee was the best.

if you really want to focus on the arts, interlochen is the place to go- the music program is top notch. famous artists give concerts there every year, it's just really an artist's heaven.
