Which schools really are the best for an undergraduate degree in Biology?

Hello.

I'm going to be a senior next year, applying to a few Ivies and other schools. I'm trying to look into top schools for undergraduate degrees in Biology (general or molecular, NOT evolutionary) and Bioengineering. I'm sure the Ivies all have great programs for Biology, but which really stand out as great, and what other schools really do have TOP programs for Biology? I mean, I know Stanford is pretty up there, right?

Also, if you can speak from experience as to what undergraduate programs for Biology are best, that would be swish.

if you really look into your best options for bio undergrad or college in general your choices will probably not revolve around the ivies and Stanford! may I suggest you read a book
“Colleges That Change Lives” it will help you make some better selections.

What do you want to do with a Bio degree? Go to med school?

If you want to go to med school, it may be in your best interest to go to a less-competitive-than-the-Ivies-or-Stanford school (but one that is still good in Bio), simply because you’ll have a more relaxed time, your GPA will be higher, and there will be less competition for research positions.

Although this is for Ph.D programs, it should give you an idea of the top schools. The same professors that are running the research labs and obtaining funding are the same professors that will be teaching the undergraduate classes and allowing for opportunities to work in their labs.

Minnesota
Wisconsin
Washington (Seattle)
Illinois?

There are tons of places that have excellent Bio programs but way fewer that have good Bioengineering. So you can start your search by focusing on that component.
Also to get more specific advice you need to give more criteria: your long-term goals, preferences for school location/size/vibe, your GPA and test scores, what you can afford etc.

Since biology isn’t some unique major, and it’s not hard to have a great program in it, the answer to your question is probably…every school ranked in the Top 100 or so, the flagships, plus all the good LACs, all the schools with med/dental/vet schools, and top regional univs.

There is a glut of grads with bio degrees out there. What are you going to do with your degree?

Most schools have great biology programs, duke is one that’s quite renowned. All the top 25 universities are excellent. LAC’S? idk
