I know the majority of schools state (or rather i believe) that of the scores submitted to them, they will select "the highest" for review, but generally do they refer to the scores contributing to the highest composite score received in one sitting or the highest scores received on each section regardless of sitting?

I know UC's insist on reviewing the highest composite score recieved in one sitting and I'd assumed that to be the case for most, but several people have said to me recently that the opposite is mroe common.

Since it depends on the school, the ones I'm particularly concerned with are Stanford, Dartmouth, UChi, Penn, and Duke, though I'm sure people wonder the same of others. I my case, each has received two sets of scores: 800 CR, 760 M, 690 W; 2250 comp from Dec 2006 and 800 CR, 720 M, 750 W; 2270 comp from Dec 2005. Not especially concerned as the 690 definitely shouldn't be reviewed, but I'm am curious whether most will review the 2270 comp or the 2310 (though the difference is minimal)
