I applied to Pitt and was wondering about this. I took both the SAT and ACT once and sent both scores in to Pitt. I was wondering specifically which scores are most important in the admission decision. Some say that Pitt considers only CR and M on the SAT and don't really care about SAT writing. For the ACT, some say they only care about English, Math, and Writing and don't really look at Science or Reading. I was wondering which scores will be most important within the SAT and ACT for admission to Pitt Main. I know that all scores will be looked at obviously but which are most important?

http://www.ir.pitt.edu/cds/documents/CDS_2013-2014Pittsburgh.pdf indicates all 3 (section C9).

Thanks! They only list scores for ACT Composite, ACT English, and ACT Math. So you’re saying they don’t consider ACT Science and ACT Reading?

I don’t know about that. I think the CDS is set up without those fields because a few other versions I pulled up didn’t have them either. But they must look at the subscores. Yale only lists the Composite for ACT.

Chelsey123, I called the Admissions Office today. I was told that they only consider the Composite score, English, and Math from the ACT. They put all three numbers into the computer and 24 hours later they receive an equivalent SAT score. This is the number they use for admission and merit consideration. I asked if she could share the “formula” with me so I could figure out my son’s Superscore based on what they used. She said all she could tell me was that a 33 is equal to a 1450 which is slightly lower than what I’ve seen on conversion charts listed online.
