Is University at Buffalo a more robust program than Stonybrook?

Depends on the program.

I don’t think you will go wrong at either…how much do you like snow?

I would take Stony Brook for physics and math, Buffalo for engineering. I am uncertain of the other sciences.

Stony Brook is associated with Brookhaven National Laboratories.

I was thinking the same @smokinact… Additionally, when you’re talking SUNY science schools you have to include Cornell CALS and if you’re interested in nanotechnology SUNY Albany (or is it now SUNY Poly?) is top-shelf.

Honestly, both Stony Brook and Buffalo are AAU members (top research schools) and are great selections for any serious science student. Just select the one you feel more comfortable attending.

I agree @Pinnum it all comes down to where ever you feel more comfortable.

I would also include SUNY Geneseo.
The main difference is that Stony Brook is very suitcase/commuter-oriented.
