Assuming I could take one last standardized test before college, should I go with the SAT or ACT?

My ACT science and SAT essay are what are keeping me from getting to 35/2300 territory. Since they're just single sections, I feel retaking and getting a higher score wouldn't be hard.

The issue with the ACT is that schools don't superscore it, so my English and Reading scores could go down while science went up, leaving me with the same composite.

The issue with the SAT is that I'm better at ACT english, reading, and the essay seeing as how I have 35s and 11.

IMO both scores are fine and you don’t need to retake them. If I had to choose one, it’d be the SAT but at this point it would be just icing on the cake and not necessary. You could focus on other aspects of your application, such as essays or even SAT IIs

but I also feel I can easily pull up my SAT essay from a 7 and my ACT science from a 29. And for my own peace of mind, so that I can apply to college with no regrets, I want to retake one of them.

I’m leaning towards the SAT because of superscoring, and because my SAT IIs can compensate for my relatively soft Science score (when take them).

I just wanted some external opinions for the best course of action.

How many times have you taken each test? If you have taken either one only one time, that should be the one you retake. If you have taken either of them 3 or more times, do not retake it or you risk looking testing obsessed. I would not retake either of them without it fitting the first criteria.

Your SAT score is the equivalent of a 34 on the ACT. Given the superscoring option, I would recommend retaking that one. Although in all honesty, you probably don’t need to retake it as your score is already so high, so your potential margin of improvement is pretty low. It would require a lot of studying for a small improvement
