@skieurope Is this the dude that started the luxury car thread for kids? To the OP, flaunting and flexing like this is pretty poor taste imo. There’s a lot of 1%ers in my fraternity and non of them act like this. Grow up dude.
First world problems. Unabated spending. And 'tude. Self absorbed. Go volunteer somewhere and learn about real life.
On a college forum, not amusing. Not the point of college, either.
Though the other posters are humorous. Never imagined ski in a barcalounger.
You know what, fine. Since everyone wants to attack me for asking a question, forget I asked. And here I thought CC had a kind and helpful type of folk, so far only the insulting ones have reared their head. Albeit, the kinds ones that did genuinely show their support and advice I greatly appreciate it.
Good day to you all. Mod, you can lock this thread if you want as you did to all my other threads anyway.
@lookingforward…Exactly what I was thinking about @skieurope. Although I think he was just being funny, I so want it to be true. It humanizes him from cosmopolitan boy genius to sweatpant wearing barcalounger guy.
@CottonTales Isn’t ski an MIT dude?
I don’t know where he goes to school, only that he knows more about anything and everything than anybody that age should. He is def not the barcalounger guy…in my mind at least.
But…he said he had a cup holder for his wine. That’s a swanky BarcaLounger ?.
I would urge the OP to read the definition of a “humble brag”.
@thumper1, he actually said the cup holder for his beer, that’s why I conjured up the vision of sweatpants and the red Solo cup of Natty Lite.
Could still be in an ascot and the drink should be rare, aged brandy.
I think he’s a Harvard Man. Not sure why, but I just do.
And he’s kicking back in the Barca laughing at us all!
I’m not moderating this thread, and to be accurate, I only closed 2 of your threads. One is still open, and one was closed by another moderator.
I was being facetious about the Barcalounger, although I do own a recliner, it’s a bit more contemporary in style (with no cup holder). But my wardrobe does consist primarily of sweats and tees
I announced in May that I graduated college:

and no, not from MIT.
True, except for the Barca. But let’s move on please.
Tell us what’s important. What brand is it and how much did it cost?
and herein is the explanation of why the OP has a single.
As many have suggested, assuming (and this is a big assumption) you aren’t yanking everyone’s chain, spend a little less time spending $ you don’t have and a little ore time learning what it takes to have friends.
OP, you’re spending so much of your summer posting about money – how much your family has to throw around (2nd luxury car just for grocery runs, anyone?) and comparison shopping for luxury items – that I’m becoming concerned for you. I wonder if you aren’t actually from a low income family without the resources or relationships to spend your summer in a more productive way.
If you’re truly just over the income line for federal aid, as some of your posts suggest, then do your best to get a job. Don’t waste your time worrying about brand names or whether or not your car blends in on campus. In the adult world, no one cares about those things.
I would like to point out that the OP claims to drive a brand new Volvo XC90. But his profile pic is a Volvo XC60. I call BS on all of this and these strings of “what expensive item I can buy for my dorm room” are just some fantasy posts from the OP. Buying these expensive items, having a huge car payment and the comment that he is financing 100k of loans for his degree? That kind of financial planning makes my head spin.
He said he had a diff Volvo that he was trading in for his status upgrade. But I agree that the whole thing is hooey.
Yep. He claimed to be fearful of being able to cover the cost of any service/repair on the first, and then claimed to have kept it to tool around town for errands when he/his parents bought the second. But, with all the PITA changes on this site, his ridiculous threads are a brief (albeit annoying) source of some entertainment.
@jym626 This could be the classic “my parents money is my money” situation. I don’t own a Tesla. My PARENTS own a Tesla. Big difference. Maybe the OP doesn’t know that yet ?
