Which UC & Cal State Uni have the most reputable English department? OOS Transfer Applicant 3.2 GPA

Hello,

I am a junior attending a community college outside of California. I am aware of high-cost OOS tuition. I will be applying to some UC's and Cal States for FALL 2015. (My understanding is applicants that are California residents transferring from community colleges have admission priority.)

I will be applying for the fee waiver so that I may apply to at least 4 UC's and 4 Cal States. So far, my tentative selections are: UCLA, UCI, UCD, UCSC, CSULB, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, and Fullerton.

With my current GPA, what is the likelihood of being admitted to the above universities, and which ones have the most reputable English departments?

Thank you :)

On the gpa, alone, for the exception of ucsc, the other ucs are a reach. I can’t say for the CSU system, because I’m not familiar with it.

Out of state applicants are not eligible for application fee waivers at the CSU <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU; . If you feel you have such high financial need that you are in need of an application fee waiver, it seems a waste of time to apply to universities that you will not be able to afford. Financial aid will NOT apply to the UC out of state supplement of $22,878/year or the CSU supplement of $12,000-$16,000/year. Those amounts PLUS your EFC will be expected at absolute minimum.

Good luck.

Your best chances for transfer would be CSU Fullerton, CSULB and CPP but like @alamemom stated, they still have a high price tag for OOS. For the UC’s, your best chances would be UCR and UCSC. The rest would be a reach. Check the Transfer Threads for the schools you are interested in and see how competitive the UC transfers have been this year. Good Luck.
