<p>Both UCI’s and UCSC’s mascots were chosen as anti-mascots, though UCSC’s slug was more so. UCI’s anteater is a pun on the use of bears as mascots by older UC campuses. Another name for anteater is “ant bear”. ZOT!</p>

<p>Best is definitely the Banana Slug- Seriously, have you ever seen that mascot anywhere else? Sure beats the lack of originality/spin off of a bear-HA! Banana slug is definitely the most original, although UCI’s anteater is pretty good too. Anywho, I happen to love the statement behind UCSC’s mascot. </p>

<p>Worst- USC+all the “bears”. Away with all of them! Bears are just far too common, and the trojans…really? You all know that you smile a bit when you think of the “USC Trojans”.</p>

<p>Also, UCSB’s mascot just makes me straight out laugh, but I’m not categorizing it… :)</p>

<p>UCSB has the best mascot, in my opinion. Not only do we have the option to wear a sombrero for our student ID cards but it is an iconic image of California! Maybe if UCSB had a football team or some other tough-guy sport it wouldn’t be so rad but for a school based on flip flops, water polo and volleyball, I am totally content with it!</p>
