Which UC looks nicest?

hey i was having this argument with my friend over which UC campus is the best looking or most beautiful one around…what do you think.

ucla forsure. UCB is sumwhat gloomy wenever i visit

UCSB!! Its very beautiful, but I think the friendly/hot people at UCLA make it beautiful in a different sense. I visited UCLA, we were trying to find a certain building and this group of cute guys just came up to me and my Mom and said welcome! It was kind of embarassing since my Mom was there but it was nice.

UC Riverside

It's filled with trees, just like a forest

Out of UCB, UCLA, UCR, UCSB and UCSC (haven't seen the others), I would say:

UCB if you like grungy urban
UCLA if you like fashionable urban
UCR if you like deserty forest (I believe the technical term is California Chaparral, though that's technically coastal)
UCSB if you like beaches
UCSC if you like rainforests/beaches

like undecided said, it differs per person =) i think ucb is absolutely gorgeous

uc san diego: very modern buildings, nice quiet place by the beach, i like the eucalyptus trees on campus
uc santa barbara: pretty campus, RIGHT at the beach, hip college town
uc santa cruz: beautiful campus thats naturey with lots of trees
ucla: classic beautiful architecture, in a trendy nice area

i like the architecture of ucb and ucla best
i think ucsb and ucsd are in the most beautiful locations, although santa cruz is scenic also
ucr:terrible location
uci: decent location/decent architecture.
dont know about davis

Yes, I know this is loyalty-wise wrong of me to say because I got accepted to a rival of UCLA (actually, I didn't even apply to UCLA).

But my uncle went there and he really enjoyed his time on campus. He took us to visit recently and UCLA is huge and gorgeous. The student center is absolutely amazing-- giant bookstore, arcade, tons of food, etc. The actual architecture is very nice, and they were doing a fair bit of construction work, actually continuing to expand or upgrade the already lovely campus.

UCLA, of course! I visited UCB over the spring break and it was in the most dilapidated town I have ever seen in California. Graffiti, homeless people, weeds, litter, empty lots, you name it.

flopsy, are you critiquing the campus or the city? The city of Berkeley (affectionately known as Bezerkekey or the People's Republic of Berkeley) can definitely be described as a grungy urban town, but the Cal campus is usually pretty well kept, except right after a demonstration/protest or something.

Maybe posters should critique a campus separately from the city it's located in. For example, La Jolla and Westwood are certainly more beautiful than Berkeley, but Berkeley is so lively that people tend to overlook the city's grunginess.

flopsy - I live in Berkeley. Berkeley is one of the most unique places you will come to. "Dilapidated" isn't the term I would use, just because we don't have gated communities and police who ruthlessly push homeless people away from our area doesn't mean its "dilapidated". Berkeley has a very unique taste, and if you come here, you can definitely enjoy it a lot. I love Berkeley to death since there are ALWAYS tons to do...

btw. I'm not going to Berkeley next year(too close to home).. I'll be headed East.. so anyone who says I'm a biased student... = P

haha, irock1ce, some people simply can't handle Berkeley's uniqueness. They prefer the sterile, safe, predictable yuppieness of Stanford and its University Avenue/El Camino Real over Berkeley and its eclectic Telegraph/University Avenues.

BTW, I grew up in (survived) Richmond back in the day but loved hanging out in Sprowl Plaza and on Telegraph Avenue.

gsp - damn straight. I actually live in El Cerrito right now (moved here recently) and I used to live in the rougher parts of Berkeley (west). Some people love Berkeley, some people hate it. If you think that homeless people are nasty, poor people are inferior, and haven't seen more than 10 minorities in your life, then perhaps Berkeley isn't for you... go to Stanford. Then we can scrape you next year in football again.

GO BEARS!

ucsb is really nice except for the lagoon... it smells pretty bad

ucla and ucd have really pretty campuses
