After my experience of visiting most of the UC campuses and attending their campus tours, I have to say that…

it is a tossup between UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz as the most beautiful UC campus in the system…

What I can only think of about UCSC is Yosemite National Park. If you been there, this is exactly what UCSC reminds me of. The campus is filled with redwood, trees that are 87 feet high and the campus is located on mountain. UC Santa Cruz used to be a national park but they just built the school on top of the land. The Cook’s admission house at the entrance to the University Center reminds me of the way Hearst Castle operate where you park your car on lower grounds then you take the shuttle up the mountains to your classrooms. The University Center of UCSC is really pretty like you are in the mountains.

UC Davis -
The feeling you get when you pass the water tower while you are driving on the freeway to Sacramento does not reflect what UC Davis is on the inside. You might see a lot of dust, farmlands when you are driving on the freeway to Davis but UC Davis is such a totally different, lively school on the inside. They have a lot of wilderness trees, more trees than UCLA and UCSD making it look like a neighboorhood. The school makes it feel like you are in a neighborhood with a good suburban type of feel. The bicycles around it also emphasize that suburban type of feeling. The bicycle shop and the UC Davis setting reminds me of the adventures of the game Pokemon where the main character rides his bike and travels through towns and villages. Really cool. It is the calm and peaceful feeling you get when you are walking about the UC Davis campus. UC Davis entrance to the University center has a nice British theme. The double decker New England buses that provides shuttles back to your parking lots and the British style telephone booth gives you that sense of feel. The Segundo dining is so new and nice that there is an IKEA section there next to the tables to lie down or eat on the couch. The new art complex building next to Parking Lot 1 is so darn pretty.

Overall, both campuses are REALLY REALLY nice. When I mean that, I mean that you won’t be disappointed when you visit the campus on ADMIT DAY or OPEN HOUSE while going through the actual tours not basing it on word of mouth but basing it visually. Both schools have new buildings and the dorms of both schools are above average.
