Hey everyone. The title basically says it all. I’m interested to see which UC’s students are applying to and their major and why. Also, I’d like to know which one would be the best for Economics.
Major: B.S. Economics
Schools:
-UC San Diego-location
-UC Irvine (TAG)-great school, not as hard to get into as CAL
-UC Berkeley-top public school, HAAS.
Isn’t Haas only Business Administration? Cal has a great Economic program, naturally. Why aren’t you applying to UCLA? All of the schools you mentioned have good Econ programs, but I don’t know the specifics.
I’m going to apply to all of the UC’s with the exceptions of UCR and UCM. My top pick is Cal, with UCLA being a natural second. I’m TAGing to UCI. I was thinking of applying to Columbia, Cornell, Brown and the like just for the hell of it, but I probably won’t.
Major: Philosophy (Cal is highly ranked in regards to my major, close to home, girlfriend attends, love the environment/campus, etc. etc. etc.)
GPA: 4.0 at the moment
Nice. And ah, I wasn’t sure about CAL. I don’t want to apply to UCLA because I don’t like Los Angeles.
Hello! I’m applying to UC irvine this fall. I hope i get in! It’s the only uc I’m applying to because it’s the only one with my major and the rest are cal states. Here are my states:
Major: Criminology
GPA: 3.7(Cumulative) about a 3.8 UC GPA
IGETC: Done by spring
prereq’s: Will be done at the end of fall
TAG: Yes. but I read some people didn’t get in with tag last year 
EC: some decent ones
Good luck! And UCiruby- it could be because they didn’t fulfill the pre requirements for their major? Schools can be sticklers about that. Or, could it be because they have W’s on their transcript?

@uciruby Why aren’t you applying to other UC’s? If you’re majoring in Criminology, I assume you desire to go to law school - there are plenty of other majors that are law-friendly at other schools, and it would seem to be in your best interests to consider additional options. It makes sense too have other options, just in case - totally my opinion though.
@goldencub I’m more interested in criminal investigation/ forensics. I hope to be working in crime scenes and stuff like that. I also have a 7 year old son. So I cant really move away because he would miss his grandparents too much which is why I’m only applying to schools that are close to me. Thank you for the advice though. If I was younger, child free and so on I probably would’ve applied to other UC’s
