Which UCs would I be able to get into? ):

Hi! I'm currently a junior (graduating year 2013) in high school. Up until this semester, I was confident I'd get into most of the UCs. And now, I'm not sure I'll get into any—at least not into the ones I want to go to (particularly UCLA & UCSD)—mostly due to my grades. I'd really like feedback (: Don't give me false hope but don't be TOO pessimistic on me haha.

[BASIC INFORMATION]:
Ethnicity: Asian, Vietnamese (at least I know my mom is; my dad's is unknown--I have never met him nor is his name on my birth certificate)

[TEST SCORES]:
SAT: 1960 (took it my first time; I will take it again the beginning of my senior year and hopefully break 2000)
SAT II: will take for Chemistry, US History and Mathematics Level 2

I think that's mostly all of the factors during the admissions process! I'm planning on majoring in Pharmaceutical Chemistry if I get into UCSD and just basic Chemistry for all other UCs. Yes, I've wanted to be a pharmacist all my teenage life :)

So...which UC would I be able to get into?

Ucr. good luck

I think you will get into UCR, UCM, and UCSC easily.
It will be sort of a stretch to get into UCI, UCD, and UCSB.
Very low chance of getting into UCSD, UCLA, and UCB, sorry bud.

I disagree I think you have a decent chance at ucsd or ucsb, your gpa is a bit on the lower side, but sat scores seem fine. I just visited ucsd and they said their average SAT score is a 1950

UCSC, UCR, UCM, and maybe UCSB, UCI, UCD. Is there any way that you can retake the math course this summer? I see you took some courses during the summer after freshman year, so that would be my recommendation if you can retake (and earn an A or B).

Your SAT scores are still fairly high, so this could be the tipping factor for you (since UC’s will use a formula with scores and CA GPA).

If UCLA and UCSD are really your dream, then you could still go the cc route with guaranteed admission (with GPA requirements met). That’s always an option.

Thanks everyone!

I think I might take Math Analysis again over the summer to earn an A or B & replace my current grades :(
