Let's say I take a class at a CC (that's transferable), but its not required for my major but is a requisite for one of the classes. Will the UCs count that class towards the number of units that will transfer over?

yes obviously…did u think they only count ur major prereqs for the required 60 units?

Well, that wouldn’t make sense because I’ll be going over the 89 unit cap.

so what are u asking. if u have over 89 units what are u worried about. they’ll, or you will choose which units you want to use to complete ur degree to finish off ur igetc and ur major requirements

But isn’t it a bad thing if you have too many units? Don’t they discourage you from having more than 89 because then you’re considered ‘too advanced’? I’ll have 92 exactly.

well having too many units may not help you, but i don’t think it will hurt you either.

you can do as many units as you want at a CC, so going over is not an issue of admissions, it is an issue for non-cc schools/classes.

once you transfer, your uc will only show on your transcripts or give you credit for those 89 units, but at that point what difference will it make or not make, especially when your concern once you transfer is fulfilling the residency requirements at your UC, which alone will qualify you for graduation upon completion, (even if all you had to transfer was 60 units)

Oh. I understand now phew I was panicking over here a little! Thank you guys for clearing this up!

One more question. As an engineering major, you have to take at least four classes to fulfill your ‘breadth’ courses to graduate. Assist says that you can fulfill these classes at your community college, but it doesn’t list which courses can be transferable.

http://coe.berkeley.edu/hssreq.pdf <–these are the classes at berkeley, but what are their equivalents at my community college?
