Which University has the Best Gym/Rec Center?

I don’t think BU is public…

BU is indeed a private school, and a very expensive one at that.

UC Davis’ is sooo nice. Im talking second story indoor track suspended above and around the climbing wall

Sports Illustrated ranked the rec center at the University of Missouri-Columbia as #1. I have seen it and it IS amazing. Among other things, it has an indoor river (water is heated to 102) that you can float down on a raft while you watch big screen tv (no, I’m not kidding) and an indoor beach with palm trees. Everything is state of the art.

No contest at all. University of South Carolina’s Strom Thurmond Fitness Center. That place looks like a resort-it is massive, beautiful and insanely fun.

^ Wow, I searched it up and it looks so amazing. I was like, “a resort? mansion?”

Yeah, resort named for a racist…

LoL is this South Carolina’s gym? It looks like a palace, not a gym…

Is this just one of many rec cen buildings it has?

that place is ballin

You should see the back-

I’m not sure. Strom is the only one I saw when I visited, but there could be others.

Yeah, I thought that was odd as well. Plenty of things are named for racists that you don’t really think about though. Our nation’s largest military base, Fort Bragg, NC, is actually named after Braxton Bragg, a Confederate General.

Dang…where did you find that pic? It looks like Aladdin’s palace. Any more pics? Interior?

Anyone else know of other schools?

ESPN’s rankings put the University of Missouri’s rec center at number 1.

I’ve seen it myself, and it’s amazing. It had a lazy river, rock climbing walls, treadmills each with their own personalized TV/DVD player. The gyms are huge, with basketball courts and tracks above them. There are raquetball courts, and for students, free tanning salons, massages, work-out classes (yoga, tai-bo, abs, etc.) and much more. It has 2 indoor olympic sized swimming pools and 1 beautiful pool outside the center.

Gotta say that pic that cuse showed is amazing!

Free tanning salons? lol that goes against university health policy…how are they allowed to have that? are you sure? where does it say?

I’ve seen 4 different rec centers, UTEP, UTDallas, UTArlington, and TCU, right now, I put TCU, as no. 1 primary due to it’s aesthetics, and the fact that they have outdoor pool with a sunbathing area, full of young people frolicking about as if they were living in a constant spring break. UTA is close second, due to the indoor track, massive rock climbing wall, dedicated indoor soccor gym, outdoor pool, indoor pool, performance hall, state of the art outdoor basketball courts, professional caliber indoor bball courts, outdoor sitting deck, professional quality equipment, 6 dance/aerobics studios, and 30+ hd tv’s, gaming consoles available to rent. UTEP imo will shoot to the top of list when it completes it’s expansion, and I have no love for UTD’s meager confines

I would have to say that the college with the best recreational facilities is Ohio State University. First you have the RPAC which at 569,459 square feet is the largest collegiate recreational facility which includes 27,500 square feet of gymnasium (including 10 basketball, raquetball, squash courts, and golf space) a large aquatic facility with a leisure pool, two lap pools, and recreational spa (fitting around 25). On top of the RPAC there are FIVE other gyms surrounding OSU’s campus including the ARC (actvities recreational center) which includes a climbing wall, indoor soccer field, indoor football field, 5 basketball courts, free weights, and cardio equipment.
