I love Recreation Centers. I know you haven't seen all school gyms, but can you attest? Which rec center is huge and awesome, and what features does the best one have? If your school has it describe, or if you've luckily been to other ones and got to see those, say so!

Well? What university has the biggest gym complex/bball court/pool/etc?

USC’s Lyon Center is an incredible gym with state of the art equipment, classes etc.

^is that because you go there? Or know of another one that trumps it?

Well I don’t know for sure but NYU has two gyms that are both gorgeous and amazing.

This is impossible to compare. Most schools have gyms that are clean and have nice equipment. There’s no way to know which in particular is the best.

Could be said of a lot of places

I go to BU and our school’s FitRec is really nice!

I’m willing to bet Stanford has a nice gym.

It’s BU’s by FAR. Nothing comes remotely close to the FitRec.

Uni. of Cincinnati is really nice.

diont, you and the other guy probably go there which is why you say so. i bet there are better ones at huger schools like university of Washington (hell yeah! go huskies)

The Eppley Recreation Center (ERC) at the University of Maryland (my school) is pretty impressive. And relatively new.

Free group fitness classes (for students), indoor track (.1 mile laps), fitness room (for group classes, martial arts room, ping pong room (seriously), aerobics room (bikes, ellipticals, treadmills), weight room (2 floors: one with freeweights and one with machines), Olympic sized pool, 4 basketball courts that can be converted into volleyball courts, saunas, 6 racquetball and 2 squash courts, amazing smoothie place, pro shop.

There’s also a climbing wall immediately outside the building, as well as an outdoor pool, turf field, and beach volleyball courts.

That one, over there.

+1 for BU’s FitRec

Haha 3 BU people here

I was just thinking of the University of MAryland!! That school is great in every way. I hope their gym rocks too.

The Ratner Athletic Center at the University of Chicago is an award winning, 150,000 sqft., $51 million building designed by Cesar Pelli with 2 floors of athletic equipment, gym, and indoor pool. It opened in 2003.

You can also brag to your friends about how it was designed to look like a pirate ship.

No, I go to Temple University.

Also, I would suggest looking at the size of BU; it’s quite a large school.

I heard Duke’s is pretty big too…but I do like the look of Chicago’s Rec/and BU’s. BU discriminates against its own students, though, as Grads can’t play on team sports only undies, every other school doesn’t seem to have an issue with it and remains non-discriminatory. Funny that BU is public school too and allows such an exemption; were it privatized and such, then it may be understandable, but it isn’t.
Time to get a “BU v. Grad body” Supreme Court case on the way for such a unnecessary issue.
