Which University?

Accepted Universities (department - major):
Penn State (Smeal Business - undecided but most likely finance)
BU (CAS - economics)
UWashington (CAS - economics)
UWisconsin (LSC - economics
UIllinois (LAC - economics)

Since I'm an international student, the location of the school doesn't really matter as long as the school has good internship/career opportunities for international students. From the school accepted above, which one will give me the best 4 valuable years of education and internship experiences? If I major in econ, I will definitely get my MBA degree after working few years in a company. But if I attend Penn State, will it be worth getting MBA degree?

Thanks, for your responses.

I'll bump this.

I would go with Wisconsin-Madison first and PSU second.

What's your reason, Alexandre? Just curious.

Do you plan to work in the US once you graduate?

If so, I'd choose the college centered in the region you wish to work.
All are great universities, and are quite comparable academically. I would choose the college based on geographic location and cost.

IMO, yes.

Of the five schools you listed above, Wisconsin is the most well rounded. Academically, it is slightly stronger, campus life is a little nicer and thet own of Madison is very pleasant.

Alexandre, im deciding between PSU Smeal, UIUC Business and UWisc Business and i im sure i would be double majoring with economics. Where would a Biz and Econ combo be the most powerful from when in search of a job?

RealM, Your list of schools are pretty even. I'd base my decision on where you feel most comfortable for 4 yrs. Be aware UIUC has a very high % if IL residents, UWM and UW are both good schools w/ beautiful campuses. Visit Penn St forit's kind of rural in PA's middle. BU's good if you can afford it, it has gone from Big&Ugly safety school to competitive very decent school in the past generation. All that said, if $$$ is not an issue, BU. For great education and college town Madison. For no snow but llts of rain Seattle. If you like rural PSU, or if you like the IL cornfields, UIUC.

Any other thoughts, people? Thanks.

Washington might be best for a Pacific Rim business orientation. I would closely analyze the aid packages offered and think hard about where you want to spend these formative years.

if you're going to do biz/econ i might recommend uiuc. wisconsin is also a good choice imo. to be honest, they all are good choices and pretty comparable; whichever one you like best is probably the way to go

All of them are very strong choices. Any difference in strength is going to be by a very small margin. Really, you'd get an excellent education from any of them, so go with your favorite.

Illinois has the strongest Business School, UWM probaby has the best econ.

But again, I wouldn't base your choice on that, because they're all on about the same tier.

I'd actually probably do BU or Washington, for the sake of being in a major city, which could be nice from a business stand-point.

yeah I personally like BU and Washington for being in a major city where i'll probabaly get many internship/career opportunities. do you also think it's possible to major in finance even though i got accepted to econ? (assuming i work my butt off, which i will)

I'll bump this.

I think you should visit the schools and find your best fit. Honestly, opinions you get here will be somewhat biased. I also don't think there is a big difference between the schools you listed. What I mean is, you should decide the college you want to goto yourself.
