Which Vocab List worked best for Oct 2008 SAT?

In your opinion.

IMO...none!

Rofl;
Definitely not Princeton Review's. x[

i did the enotes vocab and i got them all right!!!

I did Princeton Review and I'm pretty sure I got them all right

Use barrons 3500 its the closest thing to getting perfect on sentence completion.

Barrons 3500, contains everyword possible, and even roots which can help break down the meaning of almost any SAT word.

Def. DO NOT use barrons 3500

I know the barrons 100 and princeton review ones (150 of em?) and got them all right

Books that i read on my free time

Princeton Review Hit Parade helped me a lot today.

Direct Hits did quite well. I won't know for sure until we have an agreed upon list of correct answers. I can say that DH had several great hits including WRY, COSMOPOLITAN, IRREVERENT, and MUNIFICENCE. In addition, there were a large number of indirect hits - ie words that were on the DH list but were wrong answers. Indirect hits help with process of elimination.

same here! (direct hits)

i didn't like the vocab on this sat at all. it's like they support the memorization of vocab versus actual reading. critical reading vocab sections should allow for more context and inferring, not memorizing vocab

:(

yes sad. if i'd known half of the vocab in the vocab sentence completion parts (hmmm i think i got 3? maybe the one i did the more poor is experimental? if that's the case, yay) i wouldn't be complaining.

how many words are in direct hits vol 1?

Volume 1 has 190 words. Paradox, Unambiguous, Derisive, Irreverent, Wry and Enigma were all Volume 1 hits. A significant number of the wrong answers were also in Volume 1.

Barrons critical reading workbook

so direct hits ftw?

Pr was ehh?

I didn't study vocab but my brother used Word Smart from PR, which is like 850 words, and said that he recognized a lot of the tricky words from that book

Looks like the combination of Direct Hits + PR's Hit Parade + Rocket Review's Core Words was best. I used Direct Hits and Rocket Review and aced the Sentence Completions. Also Dark Knight pointed out something very interesting. Several of the words were from recent tests. Good idea to print out and study the CC summary of the test.

i've never looked at a prep company's vocab list XD
i just read a lot
and vocab just comes really easy b/c i always look up like 5 words a day and i always remember them
