While I'm at Columbia...

I going to summer advising on July 24. Should I do some preparation things while I'm there like opening a bank account, buying used textbooks, etc? Also, any other suggestions?

I have those same questions. I'm attending this Wednesday's session.
Also - what's the best, most convenient bank to open an account at?

imo, the most convenient would be either citibank or chase because they have ATMS located on campus but there is Commerce nearby

bank with citi, buy textbooks online, get contact info for important advisers.

there's a lot of banks nearby columbia. I go for Washington Mutual because they're the friendliest, free checking, free savings, and give me the least BS. I plan to open another at Citi soon, however, since they're the worldwide option.

Does anyone have any more feedback on the different banks at Columbia? I'm leaning towards Chase right now...

Is there a reputed "student-friendly" one?

I think Columbia has some sort of affiliation with citiBank... I saw their sign in the caf

There's a Citibank branch located inside Lerner next to Cafe 212 (the first floor). Basically it hugs the entrance to Carman.
