I am a high school student with a GPA of 3.5, I have taken Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, and going to take medical anatomy my senior year. I am planning to go for a Biology Major in college. But after college is where I need help. My dream job is to be a dermatologist so I do plan to attend medical school. But can I work and be in medical school at the same time? If I could I would work as clinical research associate since I am going into the skin side of science.
Please help me out. I know I'm only a junior in high school but I want to be really prepared.

Lol my subject is supposed to be “While in Medical School”

It would be extraordinarily difficult to work at any paid job (outside of med school) while a medical student. There just are not enough hours in the day. And your summers are already committed. (No time off after MS1.)

That said many med students do engage in clinical research during med school. Some schools encourage or require students to complete a thesis. Some encourage/require students to do a 5th research year. (Typically between MS3 and MS4.)

However, it is way, way, way too soon to know if you will:

a) get into med school

b) have the [very high] board scores, clinical grades and LORs required to match into derm–which is one of the most competitive specialties around.

Thanks so much I think that pretty much answered my question.

you could work a part time flexible job such as babysitting or tutoring during med school but pretty much any other type of job is not possible.
