George: I know what you mean about the rejection sting. Anyway, so much for me not caring about this til Friday, now I’m going to freak out more since someone got accepted! blarrrghh. Oh well.

All in good spirit right :)

George: I know what you mean about the rejection sting. Anyway, so much for me not caring about this til Friday, now I’m going to freak out more since someone got accepted! blarrrghh. Oh well.

All in good spirit right :)

i take comfort in the fact that our President, prior to being President, got rejected and failed at many stops along the way to the Presidency. He ran for Congress, I think both Senate and House, and lost both prior to getting elected to Senator. Correct me if Im wrong. And I am sure other great people had to feel the sting of rejection before the warmth of basking in sucess.

So to us, that may end up getting rejected, it makes for a good story to bring up later on if and when we reach our pinnacle of whatever career we choose. we’ll be able to laugh it off one day and say, “hey, it was their loss!” haha

Question is, how much more rejection can I take? hahaha lol. oh well…

haha, off to school, enough with my not-so bright mood…its a gorgeously sunny day where I am right now (still wont give location away just yet, haha)

God Bless
GdubyaPutin

This is driving me crazy. Congrats UCLA_2009! I still am holding on to hopes that they are still contacting others. One of my friends who applied (the only other person I know who applied) and he also got the email. So chances are it went out to everyone who applied.

The way it was structured offered little hope that it was more than a “we are still looking at applicants, not sure if it is you we’re looking at though”.

I do find it interesting that UCLA_2009 didn’t do a phone interview and the other person did. I find that a little odd. Then you have to factor in the realization that everything published on the web isn’t necessarily the truth.

Not that I’m questioning anyone’s testimonial; I’m just saying you can’t believe 100% of what you here. But, a little speculation never hurt.lol

“It’s not what you know it’s who you know”

the guy from UCLA claims to have known a member of congress and if you have someone like that vouching for you, you dont need to interview.

do i believe everything i read on this blog? of course not…this kid could be a liar. but obviously i give him the benefit of the doubt and wish him congrats.

with that said, do not give up hope people! the white house is not into wasting time. they wouldnt be sending an email saying “you’ll hear friday” if they already know who got the internship…that is a huge waste of time.

there are always going to be people who get things based on connections (in fact, im hoping my connections help me out). id guess that half the intern class will be people who, like UCLA, had a powerful backer. the rest is open to people based on their essays, resumes, etc.

i say again: did anyone NOT get the email?

So I’m back with an update on my life…PAUSE…why has this board increased in size so much since yesterday lol…well remember when I said I had a bottle of Jacks to tide me over…well after getting that email me and my friend Jack went out and found us some additional friends…about five additional friends lol…I should call and let them know they’re driving me to drink. I started yesterday and will continue to do so until somebody tells me something.

And its quite funny but its gonna be weird after we find out for sure and the thread kind of dies down. Wouldn’t it be funny if we all became like lifelong friends after this.

I’m with everybody else…until you tell me no I’ll assume its yes roflmao…that is until all of these random people started posting about how they’ve been notified. I agree with nupenupeyoo…not taking away from anyone who truly got the internship BUT I’m not believing anything until a majority of us have been either accepted/rejected.

I say that if we don’t get it we should create like a youtube video or something creative about our experience and how we are the TRUE intern class and how we’re going to do way more than any intern could ever do to push forward for progressive change…and thats without the assistance of the White House…watch how we get on Oprah or something lol. I’m a mix between being delirious and content at this point…which is I guess to say normal.

I haven’t gotten either email. Am I the only one?

GdubyaPutin- CARTER TOO!? You know everyone I’m meeting Bill Nye tomorrow night…will that get me in anywhere haha?

nupenupeyooo, I think you’re right. If those two that we know of (UCLA and your friends) got finalist emails or such, they probably went out around the same time, similar to the other mass emails. However I think there still might be hope for all of us waiting out there- maybe they’re doing acceptances en masse by offices?

This waiting stinks. I should be paying attention in class but this is what I’m doing haha.

change08 -

no, i didnt get one either but i got a confirmation email. did you get one of those?

No, I haven’t gotten any emails from them

ok well that could mean a few things…

i got a confirmation email when i submitted my application. some people on here yesterday said they never got a confirmation email but got the generic email yesterday letting them know that “all applicants would hear by the 24th.” did you submit your app by the deadline? if so, you might be in a whole new category of people. so far, to my knowledge, there are acouple:

people who got confirmation emails and yesterday’s email (most common)

people who did not get confirmation emails but got yesterday’s email

people who were interviewed by phone

people who were told yesterday via email that they got the internship (ucla)

people who got confirmation emails but did not get yesterday’s email (so far, just me)

people who did not get confirmation emails and did not get yesterday’s email (you?)

if i missed any categories feel free to edit but i think thats where we stand

I sent my application in a couple days before it was due, so yes it was in on time. I don’t know what’s going on.

I’mmmmmmmm looooooooooooooosssssssssssssssinnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttt!!! Lol

AwesomePossum—Yeah I’m from northern va, and am going to Mason next fall–that’s why i got excited cause i thought you went there, haha.

And just to clarify: Everyone hear has received the email “We’ll release decisions by the end of this week”, and only UCLA has gotten a concrete acceptance?

I agree, tho. I feel like there must be a ton of people viewing this blog–a la google searching–yet only a few actually posting. I hope we could get some credit for the enthusiasm, haha.

My guess is that is that the reason some of us have not received emails is that there was just an internal problem and that they are all being looked at. That’s my hope anyways.

Honestly if I wasn’t being considered I would appreciate it if they wouldn’t email me at all…Again I like hard truths, I don’t enjoy being pandered to. But, I will find whatever hope I can foster out of the little correspondence I’ve received from my boy O!

cayugaprophet09

Hey! I already made the idea of a Facebook group, so maybe that will be a good start. Ill be sure to start it up in the next couple of days, regardless of admission/rejection, lol. Ill also set up an email account where everybody can email me a link to their facebook profile so I can add them…

having said that, I unanimously procalim myself dictator/president/king of that new Facebook group, haha, if anything, the content of my username deserves me of such lol.

any ideas for a catchy facebook group name?

and hey, i love the whole oprah thing, ill be sure to let newsmedia people know of our plight as well, haha, this could get traction…we could be like what Ron Paul was to the RNC…lol, he had 10K supporters while Nextdoor, the RNC had at most 10K as well, if that, haha

for those that get rejected, we could set up camp on the National Mall and conduct our internship from there? hahah

anyhow, give me ideas for a good facebook group name, a name that includes both accepted and rejected lol.

kt710

haha, and watch me get nowhere with all these contacts, lol, immean, its not like i employed them to help me out, i kinda went it alone and dont believe in cronyism/spoils system, etc…i might have to abandon my ethic standards, haha jk

putin,

using your connections is not cronyism - it’s being smart, especially in politics. there is a difference between having a politician you’ve worked for put in a good word for you and your dad’s company getting a state contract because he donated money to said politicians campaign. that is cronyism.

don’t be afraid to use your contacts! it’s the name of the game, man.

George: if you’re king of the facebookgroup I claim queenship of this thread (even though I didn’t start it, I started an earlier one that no one liked ): …) Either way I think it’s safe to say I might have posted the most on here out of ANYONE. because I’m that much of a dork :P

no phone or email here yet. (YET). It’s already half-way through Tuesday though, so that’s nice!

Also facebook name: I survived the White House Internship Application Process (lengthy but true?) since “survive” doesn’t mean “accept” or “reject” that would include everyone (kind of like I survived the SATs)

I do say I’m slightly encouraged that thousands of people didn’t join this thread overnight with the same story!
