Thats awesome!! I am still waiting, I am starting to think its a bad sign.

Hi everyone,

I have been checking this blog for a while now, maybe more than I’ve been refreshing my email. :D

I received the vitals email twice, never been interviewed but recently received the “still processing email”. Anyone in my situation?

P.S. Congrats to all the accepted whether conditional or not. :)

Hi WHPerspective,

I received the vitals email, but was never interviewed, and received the “still processing” email on Friday. So I’m in the same boat :/

I don’t know what it means that I haven’t been interviewed (but haven’t yet been rejected!)

What were your top three departments?

WHorBust, what are intern houses?

Like, big houses that serve as dorms for students and interns in DC. If you search “washington dc intern housing” three or four of them come up.

But I looked into it today, and it seems like they are all already full. So I think I am going the craigslist route.

Hi guys,

I got a conditional acceptance today as well. Have there just been straight acceptances? Or is it all conditional? Not that I´m complaining or anything… Mine also didn’t have the department on it or anything.

Lastly, as a DC resident right now, I’d recommend going via craigslist for your housing needs. It’s fast, easy, and generally will give you a good deal.

It just means that it is conditional on passing background checks etc etc.

I think the emails they send out are very standard across the board.

has anyone heard today or yesterday?

I’m still waiting :(

I still have heard nothing, I am not sure we will ever hear anything. I have moved on and will reapply for next Fall. Oh well a vitas email and a phone interview is nothing to be ashamed of.

Has anyone found affordable housing?

(I haven’t done this program, but a friend of mine did).

I’ve heard [WISH housing](http://www.internsdc.com/) was pretty good, but I guess it all depends on how you define affordable.

Both [this website](http://www.studentads.com/dc-interns-housing.shtml) and [this website](<a href=“Internship Housing”>http://www.wfu.edu/~sullivpc/) should help!

Has anyone heard of grants/fellowships/scholarships that help pay for costs for unpaid interns? I am frantically trying to figure this all out and I need money!

WHorBust, I’m looking too, but I haven’t been successful. :(

I’ll be there in the fall as well :)

So i got offered a post with an overseas internship in Scotland today!

I guess I am conditional until I get my security clearance but I want to know if anyone else hear back and what are some possible scholarships/grants that I can apply for just in case they don’t offer me a paid internship?

So, I really want to be an intern at the White House in the summer of 2011. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks =)

Hi Everyone,

I just applied for the WH internship, Spring 2011 semester. Applications close on Sunday. Does anyone who has been through the process before know any details as to when we should hear back (whether acceptance or rejection?) and what the process is? Are there interviews? Does it vary by department? Any info would be super helpful! Thanks!!

I am also interested in applying for an internship–though in the fall of 2011. Can anyone give me any an details about the process, ect? (As mentioned above). I would really appreciate it.

I’m a current intern, absolutely loving it. This is what I’ve been able to piece together-- btw, it was just announced today that the deadline for spring is extended another week.

You submit your app, letters of rec. The internship office (which is comprised of one staffer and lots of interns and associates) go through and weed out the bulk of people-- then apps are sent to various offices where staff assistants will again look through and pick out people they think would be a good fit in their particular office. Then people get emails to set up phone interviews-- then if the person who interviewed you likes you, they send a recommendation back to the internship office, and most likely one or all of your references will be called. Then they make the final decision on whether or not to offer you the internship.

And if you don’t hear right away, don’t worry. I didn’t hear until a week after the suggested date on the website-- and I am here now. Just focus on writing a great essay, memo and really narrow it down to the office you’d like to work in. and fyi-- Counsel’s office generally only takes JDs.

Thank you Nostradamus. Your insight is very helpful. DD applied to WH internship-fingers crossed.
