and what other schools are you considering?

I plan on going to Pepperdine, UMiami, Indiana, or San Diego State.

I applied to Pep, and:

Emory U, USC, Claremont McKenna, Notre Dame, Ithaca College, Marist College, Whitman College, Gonzaga U, UW-Seattle, and Western Washington U.

I applied to five schools but I think it will be between Pepperdine and IU.

Can someone please tell me why Pepperdine's forum is nonexistent because I want people who know a lot about the school to talk to about it but the only people who post about Pepperdine are people like me just wanting to get in. I will choose to believe that this is because students at Pepperdine are so happy and have better things to do than talk about school on the internet. I mean... how could you stay inside all day living in a place like that?

Yep it is a pretty slow board:( I think most of the students, once they get in are pretty busy with school and college life. I know my D has very little down time. It is absolutely gorgeous there! I was there for a game the other night and it was so beautiful when I came out of the gym....cool yet balmy breeze, sparkling stars. It was a nice drive along the coast:)
I can address some questions or check with my D. Good luck to all of you!

My D is applying to Pepp...also Santa Clara, Scripps, Occidental, some UC's, and the list goes on...

Our S and D ( twins) have both applied to Pepperdine. It is the only west coast school they are interested in and they have looked, visited and researched a LOT of schools. Both are interested in Pepperdine because of the academics combined with the "happy student" quotient- which means a lot to both of our kids. The other schools one or both have applied to include: Furman, Rhodes, Vanderbilt, Rollins, Cornell, Oglethorpe, Stetson University, Wofford, and Dartmouth. The Ivies will be a huge reach, and I am not sure what to think about Pepperdine.

We ( they) have two family friends who graduated from Pepperdine and played varsity tennis there and loved it- so we know anyone who goes there will receive a tremendous education in a world-class environment.

The only issue we have with Pepperdine is housing. After dorms are no longer an option, where do students live? Calabasas means a drive through the canyon every day, and the beach areas just do not have affordable housing for students. We are in southern California and are very familiar with the area and Pepperdine. Our student tour guide suggested "inland" places or Santa Monica - (rent control, which , to us, means no apartments ever will be available!) Suggestions?

What? There aren't dorms at Pepperdine for undergrads? What.

JH, of course Pepperdine has dorms, just not 4 years guaranteed housing. Students find housing, I am just wondering where, the distance from Pepperdine and the cost.

I'm glad you raised this issue

I thought I read guarenteed housing for freshman and sophmores.

From their site
Do you guarantee housing?
Freshmen and sophomores are guaranteed housing on campus. Sophomores must submit a housing contract before the fall room reservation deadline in order to be guaranteed a space on campus. Juniors and seniors are not guaranteed on campus housing.

Shrinkrap, I know it is for freshmen, but our tour guide said we would be looking for housing as four years are not guaranteed. I do not know about the second year, but we want to have our plans ready for all four years and I don't want my daughter to drive the canyons every day twice a day!

Oh, thanks, I see the link. Something to think about.
