Obama has no idea how to recover an economy from a recession and it's very obvious in his economic plans. I think all that young people see is that Obama is a better public speaker, and so they equate that to him being the better candidate. I also think if Obama was white, he would have been beat out by Clinton for the Democratic Presidential ticket.

Don't McCain supporters realize the last politician to use the phrases "un-American" and "Anti-American" was MCCARTHY?

From my POV, McCain can no longer argue than Obama hates certain voters because they "cling to guns and religion." Palin had her "clinging" moment yesterday when she said she was happy to be traveling to the most "pro-American" parts of the country, which she considers the "real America."

Gov. Palin and McCain supporters: EVERYONE loves their country and EVERYONE loves America (except our allies. Thanks W).

McCain because I don't beleive in socialism! And yeah we have many issues to deal with here, but we have to deal with the issues of other countires too or we'll get blown up and won't have any issues to deal with. I am morally liberal, but have conservatice views on the economy and foriegn policy

I am voting for McCain strictly on an economic basis. Under Obama my family will be placed in a higher tax bracket. A higher tax bracket will force my family to lay off workers at their business to keep expenses low as a result of the falling economy. The economy is the most important issue to my family. It trumps healthcare and education etc etc.

haha exactly, i urge college students to research who they are voting for, you might find out things you've never known. Election day is almost here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although he isn't my brand of conservative, hes better than nothing.
Neo-conservatism FTL

I am just sicking of walking around seeing Obama 08 stickers, flags and posters. I see those same supporters in my poly sci classes and they can't even hold their own in a political conversation. Sad really.

Oh but when the college republicans put up a booth, the Obamaites are always full of thoughtful jeers....wait

I don't know how you people can vote for someone who wants to keep us in Iraq. And who can't string words into a coherent sentence. And who has a legitimately good chance of dying in office and THEN WHO'S PRESIDENT?? I can't even think about it, it makes me ashamed to live here.

I didn't want Obama as the Dem candidate because I think he's far too inexperienced, but I would never resort to someone as unstable as McCain. His stance on the war and his pick of VP candidate (thinking that women would be proud to vote for literally ANYONE with a vagina) alone show me that he is seriously lacking good judgment.

I'd also vote for Ron Paul, though I agree with very little of what he says. However, I do think he's adorable :-) .

Where I live, Obama is considered to be the equivalent of the Messiah. It's very overwhelming. I don't agree with his or McCain's policies, and find the fascination and trust associated with Obama to be pretty strange.

We started a job. We have to finish it. Progress is being made everyday. Heard anything about Iraq in the last 3 weeks? Anything? No news is good news. What about the surge? Huge failure, huh? The troops in Iraq will probably be 80%+ home by 2011, regardless of who is elected. It is most certainly in the US's national interest to have a stable democracy in that region of the world.

But instead, you can vote for Obama, who said he would negotiate with Iran without any preconditions. You know what Iran said to that? They will negotiate when all US troops are out of the middle east (will never happen) AND the US no longer supports the existence of Israel (will never happen). Guess Obama's world view is slightly inaccurate.

Or, you have Obama's own VP candidate, who says that the world will "generate" an international crisis within the first 6 months to test him. Why would they want to test him? Because they don't think he's a strong leader on the world stage either.

please define "good chance"... are you aware both of McCain's parents are not even dead yet? Honestly, I would put Obama's chance of being assassinated equal or higher to the chance of McCain dying from old age.

THEN WHO'S PRESIDENT?

someone who I think would be a bad president... but nonetheless, someone with more executive experience than Obama has.

it seems like the college students are leaning towards obama, yet they have no idea what he's all about.

This is true, although from the very small sample size of this thread, it looks like McCain is reigning supreme on CC. I guess the question to ask now is why? (I don't know if it's coming across like I want it to, but I'm asking a totally serious question here).

I don't know why so many Americans want us to lose this war so badly. We can't just leave in the middle of a war.

I dislike Palin, but on Iraq McCain is right. He supported the surge, and now we are winning. If it were up to Barack, our troops would have left two years ago (and then would have been sent back 6 months later after the entire region destroyed itself).

I think alot of people who are here are people who go to good schools and whose families probably are upper-middle class. Thus McCain, who wants to cut taxes on these people, is pretty popular.
However, I'm voting for Obama based on not only taxes (for my family, which is rural single-parent and lower-class, we'll be getting a pretty significant tax break with Obama) but also because of other social issues such as women's and gay rights, and healthcare, all of which are things I strongly care about.
Additionally, I absolutely cannot stand Sarah Palin and want to do absolutely everything I can to keep her from even being remotely in the position to be in the White House. She wants to teach creationism in science classes, is extremely pro-life (doesn't even support it in cases of mother's health or rape), and made women pay for their own rape kits in Alaska (upwards of $1200). That's sickening. And that's not including her abuse of power and state money while governor of Alaska these past two years. McCain I don't have a personal problem with, I just disagree with his policies. Palin disgusts me on a personal level.
