Who at CC is applying to Cornell AEM?

dewdrop: do people really consider that as a backdoor though? The reason I chose Cornell as my first choice is because an alum told me how versatile the school is. I'm going to apply as an Info Science major because I have strong ECs related to the field, but the undergraduate coordinater of the program even encouraged me to try out AEM courses if I get admitted since I also demonstrated interests in social sciences, and then transfer if I liked it better. I don't really see how it's a back door...I think a student should be able to transfer majors fairly easily, at least in the same school.

Hi kMz,
you seem very eager to gather some Cornell AEM people

how the heck am i gonna get in?
btw, are you EDing?
how is your application coming along?

Please make note because I am tired of repeating this: "backdoor" is not my choice of words....the sentiments I expressed come directly from the mouth of an AEM faculty member. Same with the statements that 95 seats are available for each entering class.

I was not an AEM student while at Cornell...it just so happened that everytime I did a newly accepted student panel our faculty panelist was the same person from the AEM department and so I learned these things. The information about available seats comes from my time doing regular prospective student panels. I was given a briefing on this info from an adcom member b/c all the prospective AEM students hound us with question regarding AEM and took attention away form students who were not applying for the program. In fact...there has been talk about having separate admission panels for AEM applicants because there are so many and so ambassadors can give the attention they need.

i'm applying too.
there's really 150 spots open.
the yield is 95.
So there's really about 50 spots open for EDers which isn't bad.
and dont' stress so much about the gpa, the admissions officer told me cornell cares a lot more about your fit to the school. So if you have experience working in a bank or some other financial institution, that will help you a lot.

Thanks for the info, Guazn! Didn't know that, and it definitely makes me feel better.
