who did you ask for help on college essays?

my english teacher has barely even metioned personal statements and college essays in class and Deadlines are approaching
i'm mostly worried about grammer mistakes
should i ask a parent?
or maybe get a tutor?
Counsoler?
how many people should read it?

thanks,
Solomon

why can't your english teacher do the editing for you? she'll be the best person to help you in grammar.

i just asked two friends over AIM..

I'd suggest asking someone whose opinions you trust. For syntax, spelling, and grammar, it may be your English teacher, but you need to be comfortable with him/her because I'm sure that he/she won't only comment on English usage, but on content as well. If you think your parents won't try to re-write it for you (as I'm sure my mom will), then have them look at them. Most people ask someone they know personally to read their essays, but you may need an outside perspective. You could ask some CC members to comment, but you have to be careful of essay thiefs--make sure not to give it to everyone who responds, only more respected members. What would I recommend? Probably your parents, English teacher, and guidance counselor. However, it all depends on what you are comfortable with.

People on this board. Actually a lot. i doubt anyone applying to my colleges though is gonna risk it by stealing my essay.

and since your essay is supposed to be personal, it shouldn't be of use to anyone other than yourself.
