I'm appealing. One last chance, if I don't get in, then maybe it's just not for me.

How can we appeal infinity? If you want you can send me a private message telling me why. I just think that I should of at least been waitlisted since I had all the criteria done. Isn't that what waitlisted is? you meet the criteria but you may have a lower GPA or something.

I don't know what the hell they're looking for. To appeal, just write a letter to admissions. If you have a good case (forgot to send in documents) then they can look at your app again. I'm actually writing a personal statement showing them that I have what it takes and that I am willing to fight for this. I'm sending this letter tomorrow. If they don't take me, then I might write to the Arch. Dept. and so forth. There's no reason why I was rejected, and one of the admissions people agreed with me, there's no friggin reason! So I'm appealing.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Infinitywolf

first off:

Why would you broadcast in a chat room of highly qualified students that there was an option to appeal.. Seems like if a bunch of people appeal your request wont recieve as much consideration

2nd:

I heard Cal Poly doesnt do appeals.. Theres a whole forum on it from last year..

Good Luck

I didn't get in. It's the first school I've been rejected from, and the last one I thought I would be rejected from. My grade trend wasn't very good, though, because I got sick during junior year, but I brought my grades up this semester... I don't remember if I told them that I was ill.

Oh well.

Norcallie - Sorry :( my daughter was rejected too, she is going to Cuesta, because she wants to end up at CP she is not giving up!

Oop, didn't you get in? Leave us be, I didn't bother you when you were gloating about feeling the prestige of the school. Why wouldn't I tell people that they can try and appeal. If people are passionate about this then I want them to have the same advantages as me; I'm not going to hide in the corner and keep something like this option from people that want to go to school.

I read that forum, so what? What's wrong with trying? Dude, I hope you do well at that school, I hope you're not the one that ends up dropping or failing. Just leave us be, the topic of appeals should be nothing special. What's your case, I've seen you take an aggressive role of several occasions in this forum, just chill. Y
Also, how many students are thinking about appealing? That's right, thousands.

clickann- I'm actually not as upset as I thought I would be, its really odd maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet. I thought about going to Cuesta but I think I'm gonna go to SDSU and hopefully I like it and if not I'll try and transfer. Best of luck to your daughter!!

Norcallie17 - THANK YOU! Best of luck to you in your future.

Rejected (Found out yesterday)
Aerospace Engineering
GPA: 3.81
SAT: 2100
Many AP and honors classes

Kind of suprised, I knew my gpa was on the low side, but I thought I should have been accepted. First rejection. :(

^^maybe the major dude?

InfinityWOLF- I dont know why your getting mad at me for trying to give you advice, I guess your just still sad about getting denied. But I thought this site was for people to give advice to eachother. Thats too bad you got rejected but as you can see about 70% gets denied so dont think your the only one.

Also there is absolutely no appeal process at Cal Poly, a kid at my school called admissions and asked.

Good Luck dude

For all the waiting we did, it does not like anyone new posted that they were admitted over the last few days............hmmm... we are they done some time ago, that is not what they indicated when calling?

rejected...

Things they care about:
3.45 gpa
architecture transfer
completed IGETC, AA and 2 year arch certificate at CC

Things they don't care about:
over 750hrs working at a arch firm
Eagle scout with 500hrs community service
Played vball for 3 years at CC state-runner ups
Design Village

I might be going to CU Boulder I don't yet. 40k more than SLO for a lesser education is pretty steep.

^ so they don't care about being an eagle scout?

Then I really don't know how my friend got in!

He had a 1930 SAT and 3.5 WEIGHTED GPA. I think hiss major was history, though.

But given his stats, most of you guys should have gotten in if he did!

wow... i know that Arch is VERY compettitive, but holly crap I don't know how they rejected you. Getting out of any CC with a 3.5 is not easy. Only thing I could think of is that by getting your AA and arch cert did you truly get your required classes done? I know that for math/science related majors acceptance criteria are very major specific and dont fall under IGETC.

Oop, you insinuated, get off your high horse. That's your defense to anyone that stands up to you "You must still be sad about not getting in." There was no constructive criticism early, and you gave no advice. You simply criticized my motives. Quit your passive aggressive behavior. If it's not a student that will shut you up, it will be an instructor.

Hey infinity, how is the zombie building coming along? :-)

Jeez infinity, you need to chill out brotha. You still have a shot a UC Davis and some other excellent UC's right?

I gave you some legit info didn't I?.. Such as the fact that Cal Poly doesn't allow appeals, and if they did accept appeals my advice would be to not broadcast it to a blog full of students that got denied with 4.0+ GPA's.

Peace be with you my friend

For those that got rejected online, do you also get a formal letter? If you do have a question about why you didn't make it in, would you have better luck asking the major dept. or the admissions office? We just want to know so that she can refocus on what to improve while in CC to get ready to re-apply in two years as a transfer.
