^ wow...you are quite the informed voter there...

I voted . . . Libertarian if anyone cares.

smoke free ohio passed :/ yay for authoritarianism

What ever happened to property rights?

The affirmative action ban here is official in the state of Michigan.

^whoo/crap

I voted for Webb (Democrat)
and Wood (Libertarian)

I also voted. Pretty much Dem's on the races that I had studied up on. I left those I didn't know blank (ex. the water management people...who knows of them???) I felt good, and all patriotic and stuff.

^whoo/crap??

It's a big deal here...at least in my university.

well..none of us african americans wanna go to mich anyway.

besides, I wouldn't need AA

i'm headed north to Williams

I meant it's a big deal here because no one knows what's going to happen next.

and if as you put it, "none of us african americans" wanna go to umich, then why all the squawking about AA?

and I don't go to U of M..it affects all universities, contracting, and public employment.

I'm not trying to offend you or anyone, I'm just confused.

in all honesty, i'm sure there are african americans that DO want to go to michigan but, personally, I feel that if the college doesn't care about us...screw the college.

i anticipated that umich would get rid of AA..they won't be seeing an application from me, and i'm sure they won't be getting any from other african americans as well. I'm not sending one partly because i didn't feel like writing it, partly because I don't wanna go to b-school for undergrad.

yeah..screw U of M, Go MSU! (haha)

I felt pretty bitter about not getting in (I was deferred, waitlisted and rejected and I'm white btw), but I think MSU is better for me.

It's their loss.

"in all honesty, i'm sure there are african americans that DO want to go to michigan but, personally, I feel that if the college doesn't care about us...screw the college."

they don't care about african americans because they wont give them preferential treatment?

You guys are seriously mistaken about what happened in Michigan. The proposal that got passed on election day affects all of Michigan. It says that no public institution in Michigan can consider race, gender, etc. as criteria for admission/employment, not just U of M. Also, the majority of students and faculty at U of M were opposed to this proposal and voted against it. You can see the actual opinions on aa at U of M at the Michigan Daily website.

Oh no. Now the best people are going to get the jobs, the entry to the school! How can we let that happen?

wesam-

If I'm one of the people you are referring to, I live in Michigan (born and raised) and I'm not surprised the majority of students and faculty at U of M were opposed. U of M is pretty liberal compared to MSU (faculty was against it too, but students were divided).

And you're wrong in your post. It affects public institutions, public employment, and contracting.
