Who gets to see your Financial Aid award?

Do coaches and admissions folks get to see your financial aid and scholarship awards? Does this vary by school?

Well…at most schools, merit scholarships are actually awarded by admissions so they would see that.

With regard to need based aid. I doubt anyone but the financial aid office and the recipient see the award.

The exception would be at need aware schools where your level of financial need is taken into consideration when your admission application is being reviewed. But that happens before the actual aid package is sent to the student.

Thanks! In our situation, kid has already been accepted and we’re negotiating/appealing the financial aid award.

In this case, only the financial aid office should be able to see your non-scholarship aid. If you get an athletic scholarship, I assume that someone in the athletic office is aware of the amount … but they won’t know the amount of any need based aid.
