Haha adrian, i noticed you posted here as well. Shout out to you haha. I agree, It’s true that you don’t need a typical SAT score 2200+ that everyone expects to reach. Like i said before, I am a Questbridge Scholar also to Penn and i had low factors like a 1740 SAT Score. I was also going against some harsh competition in the Questbridge program against other applicants. This just shows that these typical, expected scores and gpa’s aren’t really everything and they will review everything.

Yes, I would like to know the same thing as tauchau…anyone here with an ACT story?

@collegedude you’re a questbridge kid for Penn 2015? are we facebook friends? what’s your real name? there’s only 14 of us so we gotta stay communicating!

I have a question. I’m sorry this may be a dumb question but, what is QuestBridge?

Questbridge is a private scholarship organization to give low income students a free four year scholarship(ED) or very good financial aid(RD) to schools like Penn. It helps to have the colleges review your application and history more meticulously than regular applicants. If you wanna see more about QB, look at the side [QuestBridge Home Page](http://www.questbridge.org)

okay, thank you so much!

I think there ought to be many students with ‘low’ scores in PENN than in any other ivy as unlike other ivy’s PENN does not place much emphasize on standardized testing ( according to their CDS )

@speedyz: post that info!

page 10

for most ivy’s the standardized testing scores are either very important ( like for Princeton ) or just important ( like for Cornell ) but in the case of PENN they are only considered.

Here’s the one from 2010-2011.

http://www.upenn.edu/ir/Common%20Data%20Set/UPenn%20Common%20Data%20Set%202010-11.pdf

^awesome! hope lives, lol! :D

In to Notre Dame and Cornell via a diversity likely, but rejected from gtown. Please don’t yell at me, but do I still have a chance at UPenn.

@adrianrios- Wellll do you have any last words for people waiting for UPenn decisions anxiously that are applying regular decision? lol I honestly will think I’ll get rejected because my scores suck to be considered competitive for them. I’ll be accepting regardless of their decision though. Your friend did demonstrate that adcoms do look at essay and situations closely which is a good thing… besides the death in the family part. So I’m glad they got into Columbia!

But your friend with the 1920 superscore, did they have any special cases or amazing ECs or anything?

@ SpEeDyZ and melissaj2011 Lol well now UPenn thinks that test scores are important. Great. Well, actually I already thought that but it just reconfirms that lol. Thanks for the interesting data though!
@Maserrano Why would anyone yell at you? lol Congratulations!!! I think I would have possibly want to Cornell more looking back but too late to apply now.

Sorry, i meant to put a question mark…with my rejection from Georgetown, do I still have a chance at upenn?

@heartofcuriosity my last words? everything happens for a reason. my first choice was Columbia before, but I got into Penn with questbridge and I’m extremely happy. I look at it this way: I’m MEANT to go to Penn for some reason. whether it be the people I meet or the things I’ll learn, there’s something that Penn will give me that no other university will. and in case you don’t get in (but I hope you do!), that just means you’re MEANT to go somewhere else. if you DO get in, then it’s for a reason!

@maserrano Everyone is going to tell you that different schools look for different things, so there’s always a chance that you can get in. although this is true, if you want me to be honest and logical, your chances arent too great. Georgetown does have a higher acceptance rate and slightly lower average scores, so it statistically is easier to get into. but it doesn’t kill to have hope! I statistically didn’t fit in with Penn either, but I got in :)

haha columbia was first choice also ^

Would anyone mind taking a look at the “Why Penn?” essay I wrote? It’s not that long…I’ll be forever grateful if that means anything to you…

less than 2 days … chillax :)

my friend got into Penn two years ago with an 1110 CR+M score, her overall was like a 1900 something but her transcript was very strong and her essays were good. She was an african female (permanent resident).

Well, I got in today for the Class of 2015 with a 31 ACT. I’m still in shock, but I’m so happy! I had a 5.18 weighted GPA and my extra curriculars were pretty good. My interview also went pretty well.
So, for any future years, even with not as high standardized test scores, you can still get into Penn!!
