Gpa: 3.63
Major: Bio Engineering -Biotech (SUPER IMPACTED)
No Tag cause Im not a US citizen
All Prereqs and a lot of classes towards the major.
Ok essays…

^ That was on page two.

Perhaps you should learn how to read. I need to learn how to read more carefully. It was posted on either this thread or another UCSD thread that the new, NEW housing message does not include “newly admitted students” and that everyone now has that message.

ur not getting my point. i KNOW that u acknowledged ur own mistake earlier in this thread, but in the other one, i simply recall that this new message was it and everyone should believe you because u read 111 pages or something.

@ iambeowulf710: My app status changed to:

“Welcome to the UC San Diego admissions information Web site for Fall 2010 undergraduate applicants. Your application is still under review.”

urs changed today ?!! ^

Major Comp Engineering/Comp Sci
GPA: 3.2-ish (UC not sure… probably 3.1 ahhaha)
85 units at the end of the semester if I pass everything
(will include Calc II and Physics I)
No TAG, didn’t have the English requirement and I’m not going to finish IGETC.
US citizen?! I was born and raised in the Bay Area (live right outside Berkeley, lol)
(yes, it ****es me off that I have to go 400 miles away to get into a UC… whyy…!!!)

I’m not going to elaborate on the essays, did that once and it’s pretty silly. I don’t have ECs, but I did explain the unusual circumstances for why that was :)

I’ll be really happy if I get into SD, even more if I get into Davis (though if I get into both, I’ll have a really tough choice to make!!) Honestly, not sure I’ll get into either. When they’re heavy on physics and I still have a year of physics/math and maybe electives (depends on the requirements), not many colleges are interested.

My record has a lot of UC transferable stuff, including a short stint in architecture and math classes going as far back as Intermediate Algebra (with a pretty good record!)

What scares me is, it seems more like… if you take those kind of classes they look down on you. :

doesn’t UCSD require us to finish IGETC upon entering in the Fall?

@ eager2go: nah, I think it changed the day everybody got that second wave of acceptance…

If you have a TAG, they require it, and that’s why I didn’t fill it out.

I was planning on applying this year for next year, so the English classes were a last minute thought - I signed up for both of them as quarter classes instead of semester classes, made for a crazy little workload (with only 13 units! come on!), between it, calc 2, and physics 1 (a combination my calc teachers told me NOT to do because it would hurt my GPA… and IT DID… with the hardest physics teacher on campus XD)

I took the first of 2 chemistry classes too, when I transfer I plan on taking the second one (or the series entirely) over again. Chemistry was fun,and I think having that background in my education would be pretty handy.

I dunno if UCSD requires transfers to complete IGETC.

Edit: Doesn’t appear so:
For admission to UCSD, you must:

Complete a minimum of 60 UC-transferable semester units (90 quarter units) by the end of spring term prior to fall admission
Have a competitive GPA in UC-transferable courses and be in good academic standing. The average GPA for fall admitted transfer students is usually at least 3.4.
Meet UC eligibility through one of the following two options:
Clearing all UC “a-g” subject requirements with high school and college courses, earning at least a “C”
OR
Completing these UC-transferable college courses:
2 English composition
1 mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning
4 courses from at least 2 of the following:
Arts and humanities
Physical and biological sciences
Social and behavioral sciences

thats for tag tho isnt it !?!

am i in major trouble if I am missing on lab ?!

You need at least 1 lab. If you major in Comp Sci/Engineer/Chem then you don’t have to worry about it. There are plenty of labs section in physics/Chem/Bio/Comp ;p

lol ^^ I didn’t do tag ;)

an engineering major complaining about taking physics and calc II in the same quarter? UH OH … GOOD LUCK

^ time to change major haha. I will take take those classes over English any time, any day but then again I don’t want to spend 3 hours in lab xD

I didn’t say I don’t like them, I said that (at least at our college, the way they teach physics), you’re supposed to take calc 3 with physics 1, not calc 2.

If you don’t, you get to ad lib it quite a bit, and I take pride in my English work! I was one of three people in the class to get an A.

I don’t know what kind of mickey mouse community college you go to, but DVC’s physical science department is serious business. xD

And no, I may not be a “natural” at calculus, or physics for that matter, but I enjoy doing it anyway. You know I failed Algebra 1 twice? The third time, I had an A, and actually kept my straight A record in math up until Calc 1.

As for English and Engineering, you need to exercise that right side of your brain if you really want to be a good Engineer. Newton and Einstein were excellent right-brain thinkers, and they were both pretty decent writers as well. I wouldn’t “rather” do anything, volunteering into work for FIRST competitions, playing around with new programming languages? Messing with math puzzles? I love that stuff. Likewise, I like to write and experiment with web design, music, and art. If you went to apply to a college like Stanford and didn’t have some decent diversity on your record, and by that I mean honest diversity, not a person that takes Music Appreciation because they ugh have to, then you get flat out rejected. Just like those 4.0 superstar kids that wonder why they ended up having to ‘settle’ for Berkeley.

Anyway, yes I do expect to get Cs in Calc 2 and Physics 1, and if you think I should switch majors because of that, go ahead and bite me.

you’re not getting my point. Like i said, i didn’t read it correctly. the “new” housing message, which included “newly admitted students” was the housing message that guaranteed your admission. i still stand by my statement that if you get the housing message that says “newly admitted students please come back may 2” then you’re accepted.

The newest one, is similar but it doesn’t include “newly admitted students.” <- everyone got this message.

AAAAAAAA When is this torture going to end?
You would think a 3.64 is enough… but NO!

“you’re not getting my point. Like i said, i didn’t read it correctly.”

all i wanted. ;)

I know you haven’t been rejected yet – I don’t even think you will be ultimately.

But this begs a question: Who has been denied at UCSD so far and would be comfortable posting their stats? I’d be surprised if any were over 3.45

You’re saying that as if everyone read it correctly; to date, only Grimes99 did.

No one has been denied so far this year. They save rejections for the last batch.
