If you are going to RHIT for sure, tell us where you are from, what you plan to study and any other info you feel like sharing.

I’ve sent my deposit in. I’m from South Korea and I’m planning to study electrical engineering. I would be so excited about this only if it weren’t for those stupid IB exams…

I’m about 99.99% sure I’m going. I keep asking my parents if can send my deposit in, but they won’t okay the transaction quite yet. Regardless, I will be attending RHIT this fall.

From: Centennial, CO (I don’t know if that’s the ‘centennial’ in your username, Centennialmom :D)
Studying: Chemical Engineering, but potentially BME? Definitely studying math and/or European studies as well

Very excited! Agreed with jinny91, though, these AP exams are not very enticing.

My son just submitted his deposit!!! We are so excited for him. He is from Centennial, CO (like TwizzWhizz!-Yes that is where the Centennial in username came from), plans on majoring in ME or BME and possibly a minor in Spanish. He also plans on playing baseball for Coach Jenkins.

hahaha i also submitted mine! I’m from NY and will be studying CPE or ME and maybe Math (or a minor).

Agreed w/ jinny and Twizz, except the finals back-to-back with AP’s will be such a mess :O.

Deposit Paid! I am glad the decision is over. It’s funny how things turn out. RH has never been on the radar screen for my son’s college search until we visited RPI. There was a family sitting right next to us during lunch. The boy of that family talked about how impressed he was when they visited RH. You just can’t miss the enthusiasm on his face. That was all my DS needed for him to apply. DS got accepted by RPI too, but it’s way too expensive for us.

Deposit Paid! =] Yays!

Red Fedora and Apple192- Where are you from? Just curious to see who will make up the freshman class.

From NJ. My DS and I like the idea of going away for college. He always thinks that I worry too much. I strongly believe he will thrive in the small and supportive environment RH provides. BTW he is interested in ME.

I’m from the Los Angeles , California area.

I’m an international transfer student (Class of 2012), coming in as a mechanical engineering major. I’m from Bombay, India and I look forward to meeting you all in the Fall.

Any other internationals?

My daughter will be attending RH this fall. She’s planning on EE and as a typical overachiever is also interested in ME, robotics, art, and spanish. We live north of Denver in Westminster.

It seems like Colorado is well respresented!

My son is from Houston and is going to Rose. He also looked at Mines. I was wondering why the people from Colorado chose Rose over Mines.

what does DS mean?

My son chose Rose over Co School of Mines for several reasons. He wanted to go out of state, he wants to study Biomedical Engineering (Mines doesn’t have it) or Mechanical (mines isn’t accredited) and we felt Rose offers the chance to be a more well-rounded student. There are many more areas of study available and my son might want to minor in Spanish (can’t do that at Mines).

Mines is a very good school though, just more limited in its scope.

Pocket-

DS stands for Dear or Darling Son. There is a CC abbreviation thread that goess over all the abbreviations people use. I know I was very confused when I first started reading CC.

My daughter is one of the Colorado students who chose RH over Mines. There were several reasons. Mines has grad students & like most engineering schools, they really care a lot more about the grad students than the undergrads. With state budget cuts, we were concerned about programs & classes being affected at Mines. My daughter liked the environment at RH (“like a liberal arts college for geeks”). She attended Catapult last summer and really felt connected to RH more than Mines.

Thank you for the replies. I was concerned about the state budget cuts, and the ME degree at Mines as well. My son wants to study ME or Engineering Physics. The Engineering Physics dept gave him a favorable impression when he visited Mines.

Unfortunately the Engineering Physics degree isn’t accredited at Rose, although the dept chair says it will be in a couple years. Still a bit worrisome.

My son wants to go out of state as well. He wants to live where it snows. (A few snowflakes are a big deal here.) He didn’t attend Catapult, but did like the campus when we visited.

“He wants to live where it snows.”

If he’s anything like me, he’ll grow out of that about February of his freshman year. Still, it is kind of novel.
