Just thought I'd start a thread to see how many people here are in the same boat as me so that we can anxiously wait for the results together (when will all this waiting end lol it's like getting into college all over again!)

Tufts is my first choice but I can't go unless i get some kind of financial aid...EK! just waiting for the mail..............

ps if you don't get financial aid can you appeal it?

I guess you're so nervous you can't even type "financial" correctly? Just kidding... ;)

I know where you're coming from, though I'm still just suprised tufts accepted me--I wasn't expecting it, and was all set to visit other schools and not tufts!

and, yeah, I think you can appeal...my parents wrote a letter explaining our financial situation. don't know if it made any difference and it seems sorta over-involved, but it is done and worth a try if it's your top choice.

Yeah...I'm very nervous. My family can't afford $40,000/year unless we mortgage the house...and I'm not letting my parents tap into their 401Ks, either. Upper-middle income families get screwed over way too often and Tufts' endowment is pretty measley so I'm preparing for the worst.

sometime before April 7th, lowfatsourcreme. heheheh that was fun to type. ;)

I'm also very anxious, because my family's EFC is only about $4000, and if we don't get enough financial aid my dad's probably gonna have to refinance the house...and other stuff like that....

Same as everyone, there is no way I can go if Tufts doesn't give me at least $45000. Kinda nervous for the package, but I am hoping I will get a good one.

I'm having this same problem. My EFC is REALLY low; and I'm afraid I won't be able to afford Tufts. Oh, gosh I just want them to send me the package so much. It would definitely be heartbreaking if the reason I can't go to Tufts is because of the costs.

Does anyone know if Tufts offers merit scholarships to students? If so, how many/what are the chances? My son was offered great scholarships to Boston University, Brandeis, and American. He was accepted at Tufts but we are wondering if the possibility of any kind of merit scholarship exists at Tufts. Thanks.

I don't think tufts does any sort of merit.

And I'm in the same boat as almost everyone above--holy crap, i had no idea Tufts would take me, and I'd hate to not be able to go just because of money. Of course, there are loans, and we should end up with decent jobs after we leave...I think.

Tufts is very generous when it comes to financial aid if you are poor. If you are middle class, then that's unfortunate. If you are upper middle class, you shouldn't bother applying for it stupidly like I did and wasted a lot of time looking at tax forms.

Is it possible to apply for financial aid for later years once you're already attending? My parents didn't bother having me apply, but the more I think about it the more I feel guilty that they're gonna be shelling out close to $150,000 a year (I have two brothers starting college next year too, all private colleges).

$8000...I WISH. I guess it's all relative but my parents have to pay $43,000...and that does NOT reflect our income at all. We can maybe afford a year.
