Who Is a Morrill Scholar?

Has anyone heard from the program?

I remember hearing that the program will have decisions ready by the end of February when a person from Ohio State called me about my acceptance.

I hope I’m wrong.

i think the morrill people decide by end of march....im not sure if it is though, prob best to check on their website.

If anyone applied for this scholarship, did you receive a confirmation e-mail?

I received an automatic confirmation from the website on the day of submission. I also received a cofirmation email from the Morrill Scholars Program Manager, Toni Ramirez-Mericle on January 10, 2007.

I'm going to have to call the office right now.

And the person is not there.

I'll call again tomorrow. I'd rather settle this directly.

my dad called the office today. they told him they wont announce who won the scholarship until April 1.

Oh.

That's a long time...

Thank you.

That's only 5 weeks from now.

I've been waiting forever though.

I also have other decisions...

So it's excruciatingly painful for me.

Several of us are in the exact same situation. Sit tight. It will be fine. I'm eager to find out an answer as well! Until then, I'm letting little benchmarks tide me over!

yeah, im waiting for an answer too, anyone know if its really hard to get this scholarship or not so bad? anyone know how many of each (distinction, prestige...) they give out?

update: talk in person with someone who works in the office of minority affairs. he says they're gonna announce sometime b/t mid march to early april.

bringing this thread back up again...anyone heard anything yet? its mid-march and still no answer here!

No answer.. and the portion of applicants receiving the the morrill affiliation on any level is about 17%. If you practice any type of religion, it would be appropriate to pray... NOW. lol

agreed. i'm really dependent on this scholarship.

if i dont get it, then i have to say goodbye admission to OSU.

i'm sorry to hear that jmryan. i just don't want my parents to have to dish out this kind of cash for school. i'm nervous about not getting because of my efc. on the other hand, with the numbers, i need the scholarship!

thanks for the concern britt!

my parents made a deal with me. they said that they only saved up enough money to go to my state school (university of maryland - college park) and if i wanted to go to a school out of state, i would have to find a school that's of equal price and prestige or that will be nice and give some me some scholarships.

also, my sister goes to maryland and it would be unfair 4x as much on one kid as to the other. besides, i know undergraduate is a lot about the experience and i should take advantage of the big public state schools. i should be dishing out more money on my masters degree.

my disadvantage is that i'm not poor, i'm part-asian/white (and i'm not good at math or can play a super cool instrument) and i got no super skillz.

after meeting with the one of the admissions officers for the morrill program (it was by coincidence at the DC acceptee dinner), i hope that he remembers my name.

good luck to everyone!

I'm black... That's about the only factor I have going for me. As aforementioned, my EFC is crazy, so I'm not 'poor.' I'm just hoping my academic talent, even, will help me shine amongst the competition.

It's getting a bit nervewracking now. I know they could announce tomorrow or even wait til April 1st. I just know that I'm ready to no longer have to wait for the announcement!

lol kinda wanna just call in and ask, its mar. 19th already!

yeah, i'm hear you all.

i'm going to be going to OSU next Thursday. Within now until Wednesday, a lot of stuff is going to be happening to me - hearing back from UT (my original first choice), hearing back from Morrill, and mainly deciding where I see myself in the fall.

DECISIONS! DECISIONS! DECISIONS!

Good luck to everyone!
