Who Is a Morrill Scholar?

Recieved the Excellence scholarship.
Why is the Prestige only $125 more per year, while the Distinction is over $10000? I would think there would be some even spacing at work, but there is not.
These are things that I shall never learn. I am still happy about now having a 65% ride to my state school.
Brit07, congratulations. Your woes are officially over from at least one university.

Congratualation, kman. From the OMA website, the following shows what the award levels for the scholarships are...

Excellence: in-state tuition
Prestige: in-state tuition, plus $500
Distinction: in-state tuition, room and board, book allowance, and miscellaneous expenses

So, Excellence & Prestige SHOULD have a $500 difference per year.

I was waitlisted for the Excellence scholarship.

same waitlisted....

anyone know waht the chances are that you go from wait list to excellence? maybe last years numbers?

just out of curiosity, can anyone who got waitlisted or got the award post up their stats that includes like what they wrote for the essays and stuff, i just wanna compare

...will do once i get to school!

waitlisted for the full tuition one
32 act
3.86 GPA
multiracial (half chinese, half caucasian)
invited and competed in maximus 2,700 scholarship

Neither my guidance counselor, recommender, or I knew quite what to put for the essays and recs so I'm sure that didn't help. :(

I was so dependent on this, a definite decision maker.

yeah thats so gay...they definitely made some stupid choices this year...like choosing provost recipients over maximus. sure diversity plays a role in college, but choosing people who have not demonstrated as much academic capabilities over those who have seems to go against the whole point of what college is about. by denying those who have worked harder than others, its like them telling you that all the hardwork and sacrifices you made has now resulted to nothing. yeah its a diversity scholarship, so they should focus more on diversity than on academics right? if so, then why did they reject an immigrant (ME) over people who were born here and is half-white(not talking about you teenie, but rather my friend)?

F***ed over doesnt even begin to describe how im feelin

btw i got waitlisted...if you havent already read so before

oh, and i emailed toni ramirez about how many waitlisted people actually get in...she said in the past 2 years, no one has.

Hahaha.

Fantastic ratio.

got waitlisted. i found out when my dad call me while i was walking around campus on goBuckeye day...how great.

i called someone at the OMA and asked them when waitlisted people find out...she told me may 1...so pretty much you have to pay your acceptance fee and then find out whether you get the 10 K a year or not.

GREAT!

either way, i have no hatred towards Columbus or the school. im currently in the city, having fun, and seeing what its like to be a college student...

how is it possible that no one on the waitlist ended up getting anything? my friend was offered an msp scholarship last year but ended up attending another school. so... what did they do with that one? i'm sure not EVERYONE who is offered the scholarship ends up attending ohio state; that's impossible.
