Who knows what the USA/CANADA mathcamp is?

I got invited to apply...but I wana know if its a real thing and if its prestigious. It at least sounds good...but its a bit pricey, mainly cause i dont qualify for any scholarships...but it seems interesting. But if its not really anything special or important, plz let me know.

Hey dude, how could you get the invitation? It's amazing since getting the invitation from Mathcamp-which is one of the most prestigious and famous of Math camp around US- is very hard. You should do offer a financial aid and I know that they are pretty generous for giving financial aid(I'm applying too).To know more about this program, you should read the following thread:

I think you must be a winner of some prestigious competitions. Can you show me some achievements?

MathCamp is a great program and quite selective. Being invited to apply doesn't get you in; you still have to do the application quiz, and that is a big part of what gives the program street cred. Go for the opportunity if you like what the program offers.

I got invited too and it said that the invitation was based on the amc scores...not a big deal.

I've been to Mathcamp, and it's an awesome program if you really really really love math and aren't afraid of looking like a nerd in front of soccer campers. It's definitely prestigious - maybe not as much as Ross, but it would definitely help to have it on your college application. (I've heard there's a Mathcamp office at MIT.) If spending five weeks learning higher-level math sounds like a fun way to spend your summer, you should definitely apply.

umm sorry to be degrading, but I dont think thats that big of a deal...I would rather volunteer or do something else during the summer...I guess if you are really interested in math and want to get better (at like the AMCs or something, not regular math) you should go

but if you get invited to MOP...

anyways, how do you guys get those things from math camps anyways...i dont think ive ever gotten one...

I don't think it's a big deal either... I got like 3 invitations(I don't even know why), 2 that came to school and 1 that came home. Apparently you get it if you make the AIME.. so it's not that big of a deal.

It's up to you to attend..
