ok, it's official: Cal is #6 in the country. bring on $C!

pac 10 sucked last week

washington wiped out by OSU
UCLA lost to who? oh yeah Utah...and by almost 40 points -_-

HAH, washington looked very good for the first half. they kind of gave up after the laurinaitis interception, but i was impressed that the huskies could hang with ohio state for a couple of quarters

as for ucla, yesterday was horrible. we were very lucky against byu. and what's even worse is that we're playing washington at home next week.

its going to be a long season

I think the Pac-10 is tough because it is so unpredictable. For example, UCLA didn't have an awesome season last year, until they beat USC. Oregon wasn't even in the top-25 at the start of this year, but they dismantled Oregon, and are 3-0. Any team has the potential to pose a major upset. Washington has the makings for a great season this year, if it were not for a brutal schedule.

Oregon dismantled Oregon?

wow...that's something i didn't consider possible.. 8o)

unneccesarily: sorry, i meant michigan lol.

"I think you have to admit that you have been proven 100% wrong on that point. "
^umm, i think not. listen, get over it bro. .
Umm, I think not. Listen. You stated something that was proved wrong, and you got called on it. Hence, you lost. Get over it. That is, unless you still want to argue that the Pac-10 does not engage in trash talk, which I think has been emphatically shown is an untenable position. Would you still want to argue this position? If not, then you were shown to be 100% wrong, simply by definition.

The tragic thing is that I offered you an honorable way out. I advised you to simply state that you made an overstatement in your original post and that you should have simply admitted as much. No shame in that - we've all made statements that in retrospect proved to be too strong. I've done it too. What's sad is that you STILL won't admit that you made a mistake, even though that fact has been shown quite clearly. I think you should admit your mistake now.

if you hate cal and the pac-10 so much, that's your problem. let the rest of us enjoy our supremacy (both talent-wise and class-wise) while it lasts
Who ever said that I "hate" cal and the Pac-10? I believe I stated quite clearly in this thread that I am gratified that Cal won.

But if you just want to be a blind fanboy of the Pac-10, hey, that's your choice. If you choose not to see that the Pac-10 does in fact engage in a substantial amount of trash-talk, then I can't help you. The reality is that the Pac-10 does engage in trash talk. If you want to ignore reality, that's your problem.
At least someone said it directly. I tried to make the same point earlier
Really? And where have I ever said that I "hate" Cal or the Pac-10? Please point to the quote where I have specifically said that.

I am simply pointing out the truth of the Pac-10. The Pac-10 engages in trash talk. That's the truth. To say that that's the truth is not to hate the Pac-10.

Look, if you don't like the fact that the Pac-10 engages in trash talk, don't take it up to me. It's not my fault that that happens. Take it up with those Pac-10 players and coaches who are actually engaging in that trash-talk.

So what exactly were you arguing about, if vc08's point is according to you not "particularly praiseworthy". Argument for the sake of argument on the berkeley forum I suppose, whatever it takes.
I believe it's quite simple. Vc08 stated that the Pac-10 does not engage in trash talk. That is what he said. I have shown that this is a false statement, and have proven it to be false. Do you have a problem with the truth?

I believe UCLA ended last season 7-6, having gotten blown out in the Emerald Bowl by a rather ordinary FSU team. The Emerald Bowl ain't exactly the BCS. If that's your definition of an "awesome season", I would say that's a pretty low bar to cross.

Do you have a problem with the truth?

No, do you have a problem?

Please point to the quote where I have specifically said that.

You can go through your own posts if you want, they are too repetitive for me. You're free to skip over my posts if they bother you, I'm just saying what I think.

...I "hate" Cal or the Pac-10

;) from post above.

The Pac-10 was looking fairly strong until fUCLA fell flat on its face.

Karl Duhrrell, welcome back to the hotseat.

hey, this always happens every season to the team. we start out decent and lose horribly all of a sudden.

2005- lose to a horrible arizona team: 52-14
2006- blow it in the second half versus washington: 29-19
2007- cant even score a TD versus utah: 44-6

im anxious to see who his replacement will be

^ Another example, beating U$C then losing to a mediocre Florida State in the Emerald Bowl.

Dorrell can turn it around. This is his test season, it's just looking iffy at this point.

Yeah, I think UCLA was a bit overrated going in. But again, they are one of those unpredictable teams that could end up surprising a lot of people.

Sakky: ok, we get your point. You think the Pac-10 talks trash more or as much as the SEC, and most of the rest of us disagree. The main point about this thread was to speak about the strength of teams anyway. From now on, if you have something to contribute to that topic, feel free (but please try to summarize it w/o posting 3 times in a row). If not, no one else really cares.

To be fair, I don't think Sakky is saying that

He's merely criticizing a detail of the diction in one of your posts.

But to chime in with my two cents, I think that his continued pursuit of this argument is pointless.

Ah, UCLA. Cal beat you in last year's game at Memorial Stadium, Cal beat you in the Pac-10 basketball tournament...I can't wait to see Cal beat you at the Rose Bowl!

Ah, Cal. UCLA beat you at the Rose Bowl two years ago in dramatic fashion (I admit it was pretty darn lucky), UCLA beat you at Haas and at Pauley during the regular season...I can't wait to see UCLA beat you at Pauley Pavillion!

but seriously, its not even going to be close this year at the rose bowl. all longshore has to do is throw the ball and you guys pretty much win. i cant bear to watch

All I want for Christmas is for UCLA to punt to #1!

Louisville is down to SYRACUSE 7-21 in the third quarter. If they lose...scratch Brian Brohm off that Heisman list.

^ Brian Brohm is off because Louisville doesn't have a defense.
