Who should I get recommendations from?

Hey Everyone,

I am in a bit of a dilemma here. I am a Junior, and we need to start focusing on teachers to request recommendations from by the end of December, and I'm not sure who to go with. I plan on applying to Ivy's/UCs, but UCs don't require rec's. Do I have to get a humanities AND quantitative science teacher, or can I have two humanities teachers? I ask this because I have two humanities teachers (APUSH, Eng11H) I know very well, and I have had both of them for two years. Both of them consider me one of their top students. I also have a AP Calculus teacher I know fairly well, and have had her for two years, but I did very poorly in her class last year due to personal and family problems, although I am improving significantly right now. Also, I have an AP Environmental Science Teacher who thinks favorably of me, but she does not know the extent of my work outside of class, and I am not one of her top students. Do ivy's require, or penalize heavily, having recommendations from two humanities teachers?

Some schools require a math/science rec and a humanities rec. Others have no such requirements. Check the policies for the schools you’re interested in.
