Some schools that I've visited (like uChicago) said that they preferred recommendations from 1 left brain (math/science) and 1 right brain (history/english) teacher. Does Stern follow this mentality as well? I don't feel comfortable with my math/science teachers writing recommendations because things they have written for me in the past were mediocre at best, while I have a history and an english teacher who both have written me spectacular recommendations for things before. Can I just go to them?

For Stern, a maths teacher recc is highly recommended! Then, any English, social study or science teacher can do the second.

^thanks for the info. Can anybody second that?

Also, my principal’s name is Audrey H. LOL

no Stern won’t care. I got recommendations from my AP Lit and AP Bio teachers…
To put it into perspective, my friend who got his recs from his AP Calc BC teacher and his Econ teacher got rejected.

Of course there are other factors involved in the admissions (GPA/ SAT scores) but id say get the recs from teachers who you feel you are closest to.

^that’s very reassuring!

Thanks, I think I’ll be using my AP USH teacher, who I’ve had for two classes, two years, and my AP English Language teacher, who was definitely my favorite teacher junior year.

For Stern, I used my Business teacher, my Math teacher, and an outside business connection. I feel like the last one is very good to include if you have one, but it definitely won’t hurt you if you don’t.
