<p>I'm about to ask my teachers for letters of recommendation (I am finishing up my junior year). NYU is my dream school & I was wondering if it wanted specifically "academic" teachers? Right now, I'm strongly considering a couple of my elective teachers, as I'm much closer to them than any of my math/science/lit teachers. I've tried searching but to no avail - thanks in advance for any help. :)</p>
<p>Well it depends on your major. If you want to go to Stern, then you should ask Math/Science professors. However, if you go to CAS, I don’t think it matters.</p>
<p>Ah, thanks. I was just wondering since I’ve been hearing conflicting information. I know that the admissions counselor implied NYU wanted 2 academic teachers when I visited, but the website doesn’t specify & I’ve heard past applicants say it didn’t matter. :</p>
<p>I don’t work for admissions, but my gut instinct would be to get recs from the two teachers who know me best. If you’re really worried, get one from an elective teacher and another from an academic teacher.</p>
