Who wants to read song lyrics I've written?

Firstly: Loved “Abandon Ship,” “The Watercooler” not so much, but it was still good.
Secondly: I think you’re right, this is more poetry than music.
Thirdly: More song-poems!

One Two Three

Why can’t you be happy?
Because I’m lonely.
Loneliness, it burns
Like the cities as they fall.
The arsonist has vanished,
The blame is all but gone.
This is not diluted.
I see so clearly.

Check your vision,*
The rear view mirror has distorted you.
You could be so much more,*
But this city burns without remorse.
You shout too loud, your voice goes hoarse.
You cry for help, but help isn’t near,
You fit what’s right between the ground and your ear.

You swore on relatives and graves,
You denied the fact that anyone was saved.
Your loneliness, like mine, is something to be seen,
But it’s hidden, and your words create another scene.

You were gone for so long,
But I couldn’t forget.
This city, it burns,
It feeds off my regret.
I hold back so much,
You tear off so little.
Loosen your grip, let me go,
My chains don’t stretch that far.

Loneliness, it kills.
It feels no shame.
Watch your back so closely,
You can’t do anything but blame.
Just project it all,
It makes you feel so right.
The water breaks your fall,
I’ve always been dim light.

Forgive me.
I see what I truly am now.

Wrote this the other day. Hopefully you all like it.

I’m sorry but these angsty whiny songs just don’t appeal to me. There are way to many songs about how life/love sucks, blah blah, etc. You want your lyrics to stand out? Write about something unique; I can’t tell you how many songs are dismissed because of their cliche topics.

Sent from my LG-P999 using CC

I can definitely see why it seems angsty but I was legitimately inspired by stuff happening in my life to write that. So I guess it seems angsty but it has meaning, I can assure you of that. It’s not about life or love actually, but you can interpret it as you wish.

And I don’t write about “unique” topics because I’m always inspired to write by some event or recurring feelings in my life. I’m not Justin Bieber trying to rhyme, even though he doesn’t even write his own music. But I digress. You probably enjoy alternative music when they write about nothing at all. I listen to and try to write lyrics that have deeper meaning and that matter.

The song above is pretty blatantly about loneliness but I have anecdotes that helped me to give a personal twist on it.
