Who went to Admit Day?

So I went to UCSB's open house and regret going... Just want to know how Admit Day was in general, any cool events, anything interesting, any bragging points for the school? Do you think I missed out on anything? Also, how is Muir? I'm going on campus tour this week, but I won't get to see the same presentations that you guys saw.

admit day was fun for me!
i was in 6th and hahah got attacked by waterballons and half naked kids during the reshall tour :stuck_out_tongue:
umm any events well there was a cultural event going on in marshall
the price center was packed
bookstore went on a crazy sell for admit day
umm the library walk way or gilman walk thingy was packed with booths which
had a bunch of freebies. met some awesome people.
hella good times.

Sounds like fun!

I guess one good thing about not going on Admit Day is that I can see the campus during an ordinary school day and get a feel of what it’s like to go there.

Oh wow, I really wish I went! ): (OMG, freebies?!!)

^I know! What kind of freebies? At UCSB all I got were chocolate chip cookies.

umm i got ucsd bottled water, sunscreen, chapstick, a ruler, stress-o-meter thingy, trail mix, envelop opener, key chains, pens, pencils, highlighters, papers, phamlets, candy, ballon, platic baggy, fortune cookie, and hmm i think that is about it.

…should of went… ): Hopefully orientation will be as fun…

You got a lot! Could you smell the sea breeze and see the ocean from the campus? I’m so excited. I think I’m going on Thursday!

what college did you guys get into???

hahah well i was at 6th all you could smell was price center food and grass haha
but when i was over at erc on like on 2nd floors you oculd smell the sea breeze…
today was really windy though

o0o fun tell me how it goes on thursday on a normal day

I got into Muir. I hope I like it there because so far I strongly disliked UCSB, UCI was ok but boring, and USC is kind of scary.
I’ll let you know!

MUIR!!! hahaha people i know liked it there :]
dorms are allright.umm 11 stories high…easiest ge.
yeah idk i visted ucsb over the summer it was empty and lots of bike but the pro is the bech is like a second away from campus vs ucsd 15 min walk to the beach.
uci haha is too small for my taste.
and usc o0o0 you better be carefulll haha

I went to admit day! It was the BEST time of my life!!! So much fun there as well as meeting so many other people!

I LOVE my host! He was insanely AWESOME!!!

Ohhh!!! There is the summer program at UCSD WHICH IS free!!! FREE!!!

It’s called Summer Bridge? You take two classes for a month, everything is free. Many people say thats where they made their friends as well as room mates and such!

I’m going there! I hope everyone else on CC will try to go to that program if they didn’t go to admit day!

^ Ohh, I want to go to Summer Bridge~

But, according to the website, admission depends on “the information they [students] provide in the application as well as the essay responses given.” Does that mean the college application? In that case, my essays are crap…

They mean the specific application to Summer Bridge, not the college App. But this is a program to support students who might struggle with the adjustment to college life due to not having much exposure to something like this before. In order to qualify, you must have some specific reason why you need it other than that it sounds like great fun, (which it does). I think that coming from an underpriveledged high school is one of the selection factors.

They will send you a Code so that you can apply. I went to Summer Bridge it was hard and fun. That program prepares you (College transition from High School to University) You take EDS 20 and Contemporary Issues. 4 Units each class. You get live on campus, eat free food and free housing for a month. You get what it is UCSD. It was so much fun. Here’s the facebook group for Summer Bridge 2008. ([OASIS Summer Bridge 2008 | Facebook](Facebook)) Theres some pictures and videos of a project that we did. The classes are P/NP no letter grade.
