Who would be happy being a Spring Admit?

Hmm…not sure. I think I’d choose SD and enroll in fall over spring admit at Cal.

That would be really stupid. As in FPF student you would be equal to a Fall admit in almost every way. You should not let one semester make you make a ****ing stupid decision.

i dont care! as long as i get into UC Berkeley!!!

^There’s the spirit!

What you should be considering in the school, not the semester you get in. In the end, one semester should not ruin your college decision making.

spring admit?? what is this?? and what’s with the stigma?
i read the posts in this thread but i wanted some more info…

now that i’ve read other views on it, i might do it if it happened to me.
Taking FPF classes seems like a great way to save my GPA.

Can someone please explain to me how Spring Admit works? Do you get it only if the admission committee still likes you and wants you to come to thier school or do I have to apply for it?

Thanks for any responses.

Basically, you are admitted to Cal for spring because there is a limit to the number of students they can admit for fall.

As a spring admit, you can take classes through UC Berkeley extension and live in dorms and everything.

i’d be happy! i don’t want to go to ucsd… nooo!

why does everyone think they will get accepted into spring? Why not hope for fall :p

I get that we should care about the school not the semester, but for me SD has always been my first choice. Berkeley could possibly sway that, but spring would definitely be a deal breaker for me since I’m already not eager to choose Cal over SD.

Just came back to say: “ZOMG, two days…”

you should be eager to choose cal over sd. sd is so dead…

^ The people I know who go there seem to love it (SD)…

I’m sort of in the same boat as lemonlimerush. If I don’t get in as Fall (which’ll probably happen!), I’ll most likely go to UCSD. IDK, I don’t like the idea of starting in spring…

And I’m not really eager to go to Cal either. After getting rejected from UCLA, I think I can handle a rejection from Cal. It’s not my dream school; I just like having options.

I wouldn’t mind being a spring admit. Acceptance to the school is acceptance into the school. “A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.”

EDIT: Granted, I’d rather be accepted into the fall semester. But, I’d choose a spring acceptance over UCSD.

I would definitely choose spring admit over UCSD. The more I read about the social life at UCSD, the more unsure about the school I get. I LOVE UC Berkeley; I just want them to love me too. They have the special spring admit program at Cal anyway, although it would probably cost me more money that I don’t have. If it were only my choice I would go for that in a heartbeat, but it seems my parents aren’t exactly cool with more money.

I’m so nervous, especially after being rejected from UCLA. I just can’t think of any school that fits me more than Cal does.

^Ditto. =]

I’d be fine with spring admit.

should help if people read this. from what this guy says, you’re not a second tier student or anything.

I’m still not convinced about spring admit and the other thing is, you’re not guaranteed housing as spring admit (at least my friends weren’t…only one out of 5 got it and that was in bowles)

sd isn’t too horrible. it’s a bit dreary i’ve heard from my friends that go there, but it’s not because of the people or the social scene though. It’s more like there’s really nothing to do…lol. But most colleges I would imagine get like that after 4 years of living in the same area. (And if you really want to party in sd, you could always just find a way to get to sdsu.)

I’d be happy with a spring admit. Of course I’f prefer fall, but I’d certainly accept a spring admit from Berkeley unless I got into Duke, in which case I would have a conundrum on my hands.
