Waitlisted

I got waitlisted and am dying to go to Vanderbilt. If you don't wanna go there and are staying on the waitlist "just because," please think of everyone else who really really wants to be at Vanderbilt, it would be much appreciated.

Not trying to seem like an a**hole, but I just figured I would put it out there.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

(reposted from last year's thread)

I agree. I got wait-listed as well(:

I got waitlisted too, but awaiting 5 decisions thursday plus an offer at WUSTL makes me not really care. Wistful thinking of the warm weather possibilities, though :(

waitlisted too :frowning: I’m so upset! my sister went to Vanderbilt and it’s been my dream school for years. I was so crushed when I saw that envelope in the mail.

anyone know what percentage of people get in, off the waitlist?

Last year, 5,518 students were offered a spot on the waitlist; 1831 accepted spots; 212 were admitted from the list. The number of people who will be accepted this year will just depend on the yield from the number accepted from EDI, EDII, and regular decision. They can only put 1600 freshman in the Commons, so they keep the class to a tight 1600. You’ll have to wait until early May to hear when they start opening up waitlist spots.

I agree with Smugness. Please only accept your spot on the wait list if you really want to go. Oh yea, I was wait listed also. I am so surprised because I am Asian and had stats well below the averages!

Took myself off the waitlist. Going to Northwestern!!
Good luck to you all!

Bumping for justice.

Got waitlisted by both Vandy and WUSTL…so depressed…

waitlisted also :frowning: so sad because vandy has been my dream school for the past year!

please dont think being waitlisted kills your chances!!! i dont want to give you guys false hope but i was waitlisted and got in and if/when it comes up its extremely common for people to have gotten in off the waitlist. basically dont give up and do what you can to show the school that you still love it and would love to be here.

Waitlisted as well … I’m expecting some people will decline after yesterday and hopefully spots should start to open up…

I know apps were up (28,000) but what was going on with Vandy this year? To all of those waitlisted, it almost seems as if they threw darts at apps. I know several kids who were accepted at more competitive schools but were waitlisted at Vandy.

Maybe Vandy needs a more robust app with at least 1) a why Vandy para., 2) who are you para., and 3) required recommendation from a peer?

Cheer up waitlisted, you’re in company this year.

Hey! I was wait listed too :frowning: Two guys at my school were accepted so I’m just hoping they don’t choose Vandy…

I was accepted to Emory College so I’m going to send them my deposit while I also take the spot on Vandy’s waitlist.

Yeah, I sent my deposit to William and Mary … They start evaluating how many slots they have open in the first week of May and will probably start making calls soon after that! Fingers crossed! It’s going to be a long wait …

I was waitlisted, and i was wondering about financial aid decisions (because that’s a big factor in my college choice). Does anyone know if we can find out about our financial aid package before having to commit? Or do we have to wait until we hear if we’re off the waitlist?

What about financial aid?* If I am pulled from the waitlist when will I learn about my need-based package?

If pulled from the waitlist you will receive a phone call from an admissions officer informing you of your acceptance.* That same day a letter from the financial aid office will hit the mail containing your need-based package information.* You will have seven days from the day you receive the phone call to reply to us.* If there is a delay in your financial aid package we may grant a financial aid extension, but this is on a case-by-case basis.* It is a very quick turnaround so that if you choose not to attend we can offer the space to another eager student.* Because of the short timeframe, you need to have a discussion with your family ahead of time about what an acceptable need-based package would contain and how much you can honestly afford to pay out-of-pocket.

^Hope that helps.

Just thought I’d add my two cents on here. I am a freshman at Vandy, and I was admitted off the waitlist. While the chances are pretty slim, do not give up hope! If Vanderbilt is your dream school, stay on the waitlist and wait it out. I got my acceptance phone call in early May and took the full week to decide. However, start to consider the acceptances you have and don’t get hung up on Vandy. I’m a firm believer that you will end up in the right place, whether that is here or elsewhere. Send in your response and forget about it. Start planning to go to a different school and maybe you’ll end up liking it even better than Vanderbilt. I know it sucks because I’ve been there, but I’m sure all of you will end up somewhere great!

William and Mary is a fantastic college…congrats lexieam…hang in there all of you and stay fluid and maintain your high opinion of Vanderbilt and equally high opinion of the colleges where you are already admitted.
A good opinion of self and others is a hallmark of good mental outlook in life and that is half the game. Be a little sad when you say goodbye and must turn any of your colleges down because there are so many great colleges in the USA
