^Agreed. I’m skeptical about anyone who claims to have gotten a likely if they’re reluctant to post the whole letter.

To be fair, this is the sort of thing I could see a CC lurker making an account about, which would explain the first-post aspect.

But a letter guaranteeing acceptance this early is, afaik, some sort of error [or fictitious.]

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/800684-does-stanford-send-likely-letters.html

Well, I don’t know for sure.
But, the last poster seems pretty reliable.

guys, S does send a likely letter that explicitly states that “you are admitted.” every year there are doubters. but it’s true. i got one last year, and it too raised a lot of speculation about its veracity (even after posted the entire letter). this year i already know of another individual getting it from my high school. so let the acceptee celebrate, and the rest hope you may be just as lucky or wait it our until; end of march.

Uhh… your letter didn’t say that. Here it is, copied from your post last year (with the spelling errors):

It doesn’t say that “you have been admitted” or anything like that.

That letter is not well-phrased at all

"It gives great pleasure to inform you that initial review of your application indicated that you will be offered admission to Stanford…We will hold a place for you in the freshman class and send you a formal announcement of your admission in early April by letter and email. "

You guys are taking the explicit part too seriously.Basically the same thing as the OP talked about. maybe he lied about the explicit part because he was so excited. but this does explicitly mean that the kid got accepted.
Say whatever you want, I believe the OP. I guess we have to agree to disagree.

Besides, an obvious/successful ■■■■■ would return back to the threads he posted on to wreak havok or see the results of his behavior. This guy was probably some guy that heard of CC once in his life and decided to post on it once, but never bothered logging back in cause he knows he’s going to Stanford.

typos are mine. i also posted a picture of the letter in a follow-up post, if someone can dig that out.

bumpity bump bump

lawl @ goldebeekum after 3 pages of dispute.

stanford does send admit letters-we know that

i think the OP’s post is just not well-worded
it made it sound like they sent a full admit letter

a likely letter is just as good as an admit letter anyway but i believe we were discussing the technicality of it being an actual admit letter or a likely letter

why did you post this?
are we supposed to have some inside info?
or do you just want attention to boost your ego?
no offense, but no one’s comments here make any difference whatsoever.
