Whoever said AP Env Sci is easy?

According to collegeboard, 48.4% of the AP Environmental science test takers receive scores of 1 or 2.thats nearly 50%!!!..and 30.4% of all the test takers are 1's for AP env sci...when u think abou it thats a lot....apparantly AP env sci is not an exam where u can just go sit and get a 5 if only 9.3% of all AP env sci test takers receieved a 5 last year....so yah

its just that the people who normally take enviro...dont meet the standards to take a REAL AP science like Chem, Bio, or Physics
colleges frown at Enviro because just about anyone can get into that class..and besdies who cares if u can identify causes of global warming and dangers to the killer whale population??

thats true i totally agree...i was just noticing that not that many ppl get 5's on the exam...but what u said is logical on how almost anyone can get in so thas why so many do bad..that makes sense...but that still sucks lol

and I guess also because most SMART ppl dont take AP env sci, so the few that do are the 9.3% so I guess thas true, but apparantly the exam is not SO easy where ppl can just go sit for it

ive seen those stats and what struck me as odd is that the class with the highest pass rate of 3s or higher is AP Calculus BC!!!

any ideas as to why???

i know... (similar logic as enviro)

yah i guess basically because the SMART ppl take BC, therefore they are inclined to pass lol....so when u think about it I guess it isnt accurate to label how hard an AP class is by the pass rate

no AP exam is easy that u can just BS ur way to a 5...

ur absolutely right...ranking AP exams by passrate really tells u nothing because there are soo many variables confounded with the pass rate that u cant account for by a simple number or percentage...

Ugh I used Barron's to study and got a 4. Don't use Barron's.

Let me say that again.

Don't use Barron's.

Whoa, the Barron's book is like 500 pages! What happened theoneo? Did you read not it all, or was it just pure trash?

They don't stress the right information. They overwhelm you with unnecessary details (NOBODY CARES WHAT PERCENTAGE OF WASTE ON A BEACH WAS PLASTIC!) and miss the big picture.

Nobody sane would attempt to memorize all the legislation (about 30 pages' worth if I remember correctly). There was ONE question about a law on the AP.

AHH

Yes, the passing rates are ridiculous. And I bet the test would be, even though it counts as geology (really important for compsci major) in most colleges.
I regret I did not change APES to second year of AP CompSci this year.

I thought AP Enviro looked pretty interesting.. then again, I can't say I'm too skilled in Bio or Chem.

I thought it was easy and fun and important. The content, not the test. But the test was easy and fun, just no important. I got a 5. I think it may have been the most worthwhile course for me to take in all of high school.

That is good to hear, chaos777:)

wait why was it so worthwhile. what did you learn that was so worthwhile?

Basically, it was a good introductory course for a branch of science I intend to pursue as I career. I learned about terminology, statistics, and processes that I will be able to use in the future and I had the opportunity to do a great deal of individual, experiential learning, as there were only five other students in the class and we spent much of our time outdoors.

oh, see if i took that at my school, all the ahem...fools...who want an extra year of science just because but cant handle the 3 major ap sciences would plague it.. then again, i would be guarenteed highest average (unless another honors kid had that mindset) and i do love getting those highest average certificate. i have the biggest collection in my grade.muhahahhahahahahahaha but yeah, we wouldn't learn crap

Well, I took AP Environmental Science class last semester. I wouldn't call it hard but then again I got a B in that class. The multiple choices were easy. What I had trouble with was the Essay section.

I am confident that I will score at least 4 on the APES test. My science teacher was one of the best teacher I ever had. Do you know what's the passing rate of the APES exam with him as the teacher? Since my school is a new one, it only has two years of record. In the first year, 100% passed(There were about 17 students taking the test). As for the second year, the passing rate was 94%(There were roughly 33 students taking the test in my schoo). This year, I expect about 55 students taking the test in my school, including my brother and I. Of course, most of us will pass it with at least a 4, with such a great teacher as the ultimate coach.

51.6% of the APES test takers scored atleast a 3 or higher last year.
