Whole lota question about Financial Aid

I am a canadian permanent resident and i am applying to four US universities (UPenn, Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth) I am kinda of confused by all the financial aid forms. I mean i talked to an admission officer from UPenn today and he told me that my family's financial condition definitely play a role in the admission process, but i've always thought that UPenn is need-blind to canadian permanent resident. So what's the deal? Last but not least, i just read the post from the Brown ED applicants and he/she says that what Brown offers isn't enough. Is it only Brown that does that all do all the school i am applying to may potentially give less than what i am asking for?

ASKING FOR? I don't recall asking for any amount of money. The way it works is that you look at the fee for matriculating.....think of it as a loan and decide if you can stomach the cost. File your forms and await the award. Your asking isn't really a part of the financial aid awards.

What you ask for has nothing really to do with the financial aid process. Get the financial paperwork done ASAP and wait.

If finances are a primary concern, then you should be including some schools where you will place higher in the incoming class (preferably top 25%). The higher you place, the more money you can expect at many schools particularly outside the Ivy's. Chasing the Ivy's alone can really be a lousy financial strategy.
